Philips Rally Headlight Bulbs (100/90W)

Yesterday I got the Philips Rally 100/90 Watts bulbs for my car and the lighting has increased to almost double. The price was 150 for one bulb. These are available at all accessories shops in Rawalpindi.

Although its not a replacement for HID but I think this is a best solution in its price for those who don't want to spend a huge amount on HID. here is the pic

@ MrNiceGuy If you are asking about the difference of stock lights and these Philips tubes, then there is no difference of color only the intensity of light is almost double than the stock light. There are other Chinese brands available in blue and white color and these are also 100W or above but their light is not as intense as these are and they tend to burn in a few days.

But ofcourse an HID is far more brighter than these bulbs but you are also paying almost 18000 for the best double point HID available in the market and are never sure how long will those last.

There were philips bluevision bulbs also available in the market but were expensive. I guess 1000 to 1200 rupees for a pair if you get hold on genuine ones.

My friend bought those last year from montgomery road and the light is bright and light blue.

Not like those chinese/ korean so called halogen bulbs in which you cant see a speed breaker on the road.

Just make sure before putting these puppies in about your maximum allowable current for headlights.

For two headlights, you should be able to burn both filaments at the same time as for example when you flash.

You should be able to support (100+90)*2/12=32 Amps on the fusible link on the battery. If not, it's not safe to use these lights.

I use Koito H4s. As for HIDs, I'm not convinced of their price/performance ratio. But that's my opinion. And as far as intensity is concerned, it's written on the box that these bulbs are too bright (thus illegal) for road use.

HIDs, being for road use, might be actually less bright than these bulbs.

these are only available in yellowish tint. Price is Rs 150 each tube. These bulbs are too bright and are not raod legal in Europe. My experience so far with these is very good.

A friend of mine has been using these bulbs in his car since 1 year and never experienced any problems so far.

Well road conditions in Europe are very different than those in Pakistan. There, you do not need the brighter bulbs. Here, it could be a life-saver.

That said, I'd love to put locomotive headlamps on my car, if I could figure out a way to run them...

It can be life savor for one who is using it but can be dangerous for many who are in front of it.

True too... Unfortunately when you're in your car, you do not think for the other person.

BTW, It seems that the Koito bulbs that I use have a different focus than the original bulbs. They focus lower and with a greater spread at low and high beam.

I'm really sorry bro', I'm in France, the car in question is in Islamabad. Although I can tell you this, the difference in light pattern was most noticeable around the lower limit of the low beam. You can see more, nearer to the car. And the higher edge of the light pattern was slightly lower than original for low beam.

On low beam, from the front of the car, it seems almost the same as the original. On high beam however, the intensity IS markedly higher. Hope this helps. As far as life is concerned, it has been mashaallah 4 years or so since I put them in and they are still going strong. (y)

P.S. The beam pattern might be better because the "Handi" (the headlamp unit) is made by Koito as well.

In my car the beam pattern is same as before but the spread has increased alot maybe due to increased brightness. on high beam it goes farther than the stock. I am quite carefull while using the high beam as to protect the drivers comming from the opposite direction.
