No, lte option is not activated even in lollipop by default. i tried warid lte sim, but it was working only on 2g as warid is not providing 3g services. so had to delete the mentioned file to activate lte.

And off course, to delete the file had to root the phone as it's a system file.

That is because warid is not added as lte operator in Samsung cs file

You don't have to delete the file If you delete the file, boom, there goes the system UI.
Build.prop contains the settings for system UI. Persist.radio.lteon is a script line in the middle. Always change it to true. I recommend not to completely delete the line. The pointers associated with the script will give you fc's when triggered.

I've already deleted the file and still there is no problem at all.

And on top of that, warid also doesn't support s4 lte officially. Went to their service center and they regret to add any setting to s4.

My dad got a Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G from China and I've no clue what I'm doing.
The thing is so full of MIUI crap that I can't even find the Playstore. There are a few App Store kind of apps but all are in Chinese. And it looks nothing like Android. HELP!
What exactly is a Rom? Is it available for this phone? And will it solve the language and extra (useless) apps problem?
P.S I'm an iOS user so I know nothing.

I wanted to keep it to manufacturer specs so after 18+ hours of translations and research I installed the stock ROM but for the global handset. That took away the Chinese apps and brought Google apps which are banned in China. Problem solved! Thanks.

A noob did factory reset, but before that, he connected phone to computer and copied all phone files and folders to computer in a separate folder.

Any way to get contacts back?.

I was able to get many contacts from gmail contacts and sync, but not all.

Any way to get back all contacts from the files he copied?.

E.g. Transfering some old contacts files or folders (previously copied from phone before factory reset) via file Explorer to phone.

The phone (S3 GT-I9300) is working good and has root access.

The exact location of the contacts database is in /data/data/android.providers.contacts/databases. The file is in SQLite3 format, and can be browsed on your PC with e.g. SQLiteman. With this application you can browse the database in a graphical mode. Of course you also can use the command line sqlite3 client if you prefer.

So you can either use a file manager to navigate to the database file, and copy it to your computer for investigation -- or directly pull it to your computer via adb pull. A third option would be to investigate it directly on your device, e.g. using the SQLite Manager or aSQLiteManager app.
Always store the contacts on google to avoid the loss.

How do you people keep your phone ad free?

I use Adaway (root). Its great, blocks in-app ads too. It uses hosts file to block ads.

Browser: Firefox with adblock plus add-on. Works perfect on browser.

Is there any better app?.

Adblock plus app (no root required) for Android doesn't work at all on my phone. It uses proxy settings to block ads.
