Okay guys here's the review of 6.0.1 Marshmallow for Note 5
First, the UI has minor visual changes ( on stock theme ); starting from widgets, they all are fine tuned, previously all of them had useless information and took so much space but now they are all streamlined.
Furthermore, the font of UI is also a bit shortened, due to this one can see more information specially in contacts plus all of the popping colours have been tuned down to give UI more mature look. Moreover, the biggest change is seen in notification menu, it's all white and blue, it looks decent and elegant then before plus notification bar remains white when Samsung's apps are opened like browser etc with dark blue icons and text and also one can drop down notification menu with single tap rather then pressing the edit menu. Furthermore, the multitasking menu, I love the new layout, the opened apps are like big cards, they show more information. Last are animations, they are changed and are really fast with new styles.
Second, the optimization or the fluidity, Samsung has nailed it. The opening and closing of apps is buttery smooth. I cannot believe that I am using touchwiz. The scrolling has vastly improved throughout the UI and the widget redrawing problem has also been fixed plus widgets had a strange scrolling lag that is also tweaked now. Plus the phone just doesn't slow down no matter how much apps are opened. The ram management has also improved, the phone doesn't refresh apps now as it did before, moreover the ram is around 1.6 gb free, previously it was 1.1 gb. So kudos to Samsung.
Third battery, I have not experienced any battery improvement. The standby timings and SOT is the same. And this is not a bad thing as Note 5 is already very good in managing efficiency. Phone easily lasts whole day with almost 6 hours SOT with everything enable from LTE to sync.
Fourth, features, Samsung has added almost nothing in fact they fixed what already was good specially the browser, it has a secret mode plus is more fast and fluid and also the music app, it is not cluttered anymore. But Marshmallow it self has some new stuff like fingerprint security in whole of the UI like I can apply it on my favourite apps like Facebook etc. The now on tap feature is good but need some refinement, it sometimes detect irrelevant info but is still really handy. Lastly I cannot find the doze feature, may be it's built-in or Samsung has disabled for its own optimizations.
All in all, the upgrade is promising. Now the Note 5 feels like a flagship device. The wait for update was worth it. All of my problems have been addressed and hats off to Samsung. No need for stock android or iOS now. Touchwiz is the best with hell a lot of features and top notch performance. @spano
