Kamran, great experience with the Gullwing since I was 10 years old. One of my closest friends at school had the only Gullwing in Pakistan and the first time I saw the car and had a ride was 1965, the car was already 10 years old!!
It had many desirable options like the long range fuel tank, the fantastic Rudge wheels with two tail spinners, custom fitted luggage, and above all the long ratio drive giving it the 160 MPH top speed.
Sadly they sold the car in 1970 and it was later on taken out of Pakistan.
It was one of the first Gullwings delivered anywhere in the world, it was a fairly common sight in the Lahore during late 50's and entire 60's, sometimes being driven with the doors OPEN!!!!
The first gullwing I drove was in the UK in 1980, still owned by a cousin of mine. The experience was thrilling to say the least, but all the attention the car would generate was slightly intimidating in traffic, the brakes were still upto the job of hauling it down from 100 MPH but beyond I dont know.
The 3 litre engine is a paragon of smooth delivery, but the weak link is the gearbox, the car is always searching for a 5th gear. The english climate suits the car, other wise without any wind down windows it can be very discomforting.
