Unlike you, I've never seen one in the flesh. When I was young, the nice cars that were owned by friends of my parents were nowhere near as classic as the gull-wing. A BRG XJ6, an Audi coupé, an Alfa, a Volvo 144 and 244, and the first generation Celica.
If memory serves me right, the only other car to have proper "gull-wing" doors was the DeLorean right?
Of course that car was no where near an engineering showcase. It tried to be, but it was a lot of good ideas that didn't work well together. An engine that was supposed to be a V8 but ended up being a V6, a corrosion proof body that was difficult to make and even more difficult to keep clean, a composite chassis that flexed, and electronic appointments that didn't work well.
