Assalam Alaikum Pakwheelers ..... i m thinking to start a business of Pigeon Breeding ......... All i want from u guys is that to give ur views about k Kya ghar mai Pigeons rakh saktay for business point of view sai ya Nahi agr mai nai rakhna hwa toh mai pigeon ko urraunga ni aur naa un k paar katunga ..... Many people told me that never think about keeping pigeons in Home ....Q k ye insaan ko tabah kr deta ye cheez mazaro par hoti haa ye agr ghar mai rakho toh ghar mai kbi Khushi ni hoti etc etc .....IS IT TRUE(A)

hmm - I had pigeons in my house in khi, I never actually bought them, just found a couple one day trying to be in the shade and have a drink of water, so I put a bowl of water for them..

They never left

Never heard that they cause bad luck.

My house also was visited by owls, cute birds - I didnt mind them sitting on my mango trees...

btw - what the heck business model is pigeon breeding? - is it like a stud farm?

Pigeon breeding is like A person buys a pair of pigeon at 30 thousand then after some time when their babies are able to fly then he will sell them on market ... I m thinking to buy German Beauty Pigeons

The pigeon business is indeed good. The business ideas of birds is good but i am not sure pigeons will give you good return.
Imagine the business potential that no one in pakistan is selling trained love birds or trained australian parrots called budgies. Yes they do sell birds but they are not trained.If someone in Pakistan actually establish such a business idea you can make lots of money. Presently as i see it there are no pet shops near DHA Islamabad or nearby.There is lot of potential if you actually train birds.There is also currently very few or no Aqarium fish plants in Pakistan(as per my knowledge).At end if you do good business you can export them to Afghanistan or India at lower price. I remember about someone i know who used to make heaps of money sending food products to Afganistan (Kandhar).Piegon is good thing but try something which is not openly availible in the markets.

I am keeping pigeons for over 20 years. I don't agree that "Yeh tumahin tabah ker dain ***". I am software Engineer and doing great job.So don't think like that.

For business, I would like to ask a question. How do you rate your PR ? Do you have friends or know some club that you can join to enhance your relation with in hobby mates?

It is good business and I know few persons who not only sell local breed but import and sell in local market. You just have to have good PR that people know you and consult you for buying.

For breed I would suggest to go with fancy birds. like pouter, frill back, croper etc. Because you can't sell homing pigeons or tipplers if you don't have good results in it. People like to keep birds for kids and they look good, You can sell to that target market.

One other thought is to breed parrots. I would not suggest to have expensive one but cocktails. Like with your first point, people don't like pigeons due to abc reasons, but even those people like parrots. cocktails are not expensive so in range of many people. you can breed them and sell them via online listing sites.

Good suggestions from Tanver.Keeping and breeding bird for business is serious matter believe me ... there is no holiday not even on Eid day,you cannot spend 2/3 days out of city if you look after your loft personally. I would recommend 'Visit some top breeders,their aviaries and discuss with them.By the way pigeons are very cute but the filth they produce is almost double or triple then parrots.Parrots have more market share then pigeons among bird hobbyists . First, You should trained your self to keep birds,test your temperament by keeping some less expensive mutations of any bird(pigeon or parrot).And mark my words if you are not in love with birds you will end up in loss, keeping birds is actually a hobby and people turned this hobby into business after few years experience and PR but not all of them can see success. you can visit these pages to get some knowledge about bird hobby,their value,selling and buying
