Assalamualaikum!
I recently had problem in my BMW X1. I fuelled up my car with super from PSO defence main boulevard and went to office. Usually i always filled the car with high octane ron 97 but this time since they did not had it and my car was empty, i had to fill it up. But before doing so i emptied an entire bottle of octane booster of ’STP’ brand in the fuel tank.
The car drove normal until the reserve light came on, then the knocking started. At first i thought it was not a biggie. But then after i went and parked at home, the car wouldn’t start. When i would hit engine start button , engine would start for 2 seconds then shut down immediately. I kept repeating this and engine kept shutting down.
I didn’t know what to do so i called DEWAAN BMW MOTORS office in Lahore. Told them about the situation, they said they would need to get it checked and i would need to send the car to their showroom through carriage. When I asked them to send their technician, they refused, saying that they did not had relevant equipment fpr mobile workshop.
So i asked another mechanic INH EXPRESS near airport road to come and check. Preliminary investigation revealed that their was some problem with piston. I couldn't believe it so I sent the car to their workshop. Turns out, 1 of the 3 piston was damaged beyond repair!
I was SHOCKED! My car had only +22,000 kms on it, it was only 2 years old! So i called DEWAN MOTORS once again and apprised them about the situation. They told me that they cannot do anything without looking at the car themselves. Meaning, i would have to ask INH EXPRESS to close up my engine and send the car to them so they can come to same conclusion.
I asked them about spare parts, if they had any pistons available, to my surprise, they did NOT had any parts! What kind of after sale service is this? They sold thousand of cars and still did not had any spare party in inventory? I was told that the showroom would have to order parts from Germany!
Since my brother already had a bad experience with them earlier, they took very long and charges were too high, I asked INH EXPRESS to order them and fix my car.
It took 2 months for me to drive again and i had to pay roughly 325k!
I was so enthusiastic to buy X1 as i’m an old BMW fan. But this incident and the pathetic service has taught me a lesson! I would HIGHLY advise everyone NOT to buy BMW from Dewan motors to avoid sheer disappointment and despair in future!
I can’t seem digest the fact that why do they still have the agency? How can a dealership function without spare parts?
I will also write to BMW head quarter and apprise them of this situation. How can we expect to enjoy this machine with this kind of service?
Simply deplorable!
