I dont think 1.8L will be an option. Keep in mind HRV will remains in production for at least 5 years and if they are sell on average 10,000 units a year they need 50,000 engines in 5 years.
if they want to get rid of 1.8L engines, I am sure they dont have 50,000. They might have few hundred or few thousands max. Our local car companies dont stock materials in such a quantity and import kits on basis of demand and booked orders. let's assume they have few thousands of 1.8L
May be give option for both 1.8 and 1.5 at launch.
Discontinue 1.8 after finishing off with the stock and continue with 1.5
I think two engines at launch and then discontinuation of one will not make any sense.
I think we will go with just one engine 1.5L from launch
BUT here is the twist in the story.. this 3rd gen HR-V is not available with 1.8 anywhere .. yes City in Pakistan comes with 1.2L and that engine is also not available anywhere else BUT keep in mind, GM6 city shares platform, components and other mechanicals with FIT/ Jazz so, that's was an easy installation as 1.2L is available on these models'.
