Planning for Road Trip (Karachi - Lahore 2019)

AOA.
Would like to know the road conditions for Karachi - Lahore.

We are planning to leave inn Shaa Allah on 11th-July-2019. Would recommend if any travel guru would recommend some best route, timings or any other information (Resturants , Stop Over, Hotels etc.)

Family of 4 (2 Adults + 9ys (Boy) 1.8 Months (Boy)
Vehicle : Honda Vezel
Types : Changed march 2019.
Do i need any special approval / Papers ? Car is on my Name (No Bank Involved)

Any recommendation is welcome.

leave early morning, have breakfast at moro, royal taj is a good option, then late lunch at pani aqil mcdonalds, reach sadiqabad. U can stay at midway hotel on the highway. Next day take the n5 till lodhran khanewal expressway and then get on the motorway to lahore. Motorway drive is excellent.

Usually just registration book leaflet. Make sure car is insured and most of all be a safe driver

By that time M3 wasn't operational, so you've got a good route available. Take the E5 after you crossed Bahawalpur and just before Lodhran, which will take you to Khanewal. Without going into Khanewal follow the E5 all the way till N5 at Khanewal toll plaza. Drive a little further till Kacha Khoo and take the left towards Abdul Hakim interchange to connect to M3. Planning a trip Karachi-Lahore-Karachi in Dec'19 on Honda Civic Oriel 1800cc.
Though you have given excellent details about your trip would appreciate if you can give little more details about where to switchover from various points e.g. Karachi to Hyderabad is M-9.Hyderabad to Sukkur N-5 and now we have M-5 from Sukkur to Multan.Do I understand threes a motorway from Multan to Lahore.
Also about your overnight stay at Sadiqabad.What category I mean starwise would you put that hotel at Sadiqabad.Any guidance you can give as my wife is very anxious about planning such a trip.I guess one has to also watch for fog during Dec Sadiqabad onwards.

Multan-Sukkur M5 Motorway Update?

Any one having any idea about the tentative start date of Motorway as most of the work has been completed but its pending inauguration.

I have a query. Im planning to goto lahore by road. Please, if anyone has travelled recently, can they tell me if Sukkur to Multan motorway is open for traffic?

Midway, all the way.... I would rate it 5star. Stayed there on june 23 and July 8th 2019. Try Matser Bed if you have a small family. Highly recommended.

Thank you everybody for the input.Midway hotel indeed looks quite clean and alright for an overnight stay.I would say its 3 Star. Is it situated on the main artery and somewhere close to McDonalds?Essentially we have Motorway Karachi-Hyderabad M-9,Normal dual carriageway Hyderabad to Sukkur(N-5) and Sukkur- Multan(M-5) and Multan-Abdul Hakeem(M-4) and Abdul Hakeem-Lahore(M-3) So Sadiqabad would be on M--5 and there would naturally be an interchange to go to the city.Would it be advisable /conveniant to overnight at Sadiqabad or Sukkur.
Another query if I want to go from Sukkur to Lahore via Multan/Sahiwal then what Motorway do I take.

Karachi to Hyderabad M-9 (1.5 hours)
Hyderabad to Moro N-5 (2:45 to 3 hours) 1st stop Royal Taj Restaurant for tea/refreshments/washroom
Moro to Sukkur N-5 (2:15 - 2:30 hours) I hope that M-5 would be fully operational by then so your 1st change over would be here.
Sukkur to Multan M-5 I haven't got an exact idea about how much time would it take but my guess is 4 hours +- 15 minutes

OR you can exit at Sadiqabad interchange and stay the night there at Midway Hotel, which is right at the highway (N-5) bang opposite a McDonalds. It's a 3* hotel but a very good one from the standards that you would find at the highway.

Now if you stay at Sadiqabad, you have 2 options, either to catch up Multan-Lahore motorway M-4 from Multan OR take M-3 from Abdul Hakeem.

If you choose option 1 (M-4):
Sadiqabad to Multan N-5 via Lodhran

If you choose option 2 (M-3):
Sadiqabad to Khanewal via E-5, which is the right turn just before entering Lodhran, cross Khanewal, drive up till Kacha Khoo take the left turn towards Abdul Hakim

I wouldn't be staying overnight at Sukkur, if I don't have anything else to do but to stay there. Either stay at Sadiqabad or better still Bahawalpur if you can manage the drive time.

Regarding your query about going from Sukkur to Lahore via Multan/Sahiwal, then I would advise you to skip Multan altogether and follow N-5 from Sukkur all the way till Lodhran and switch to E-5 from there and catch up N-5 again from Khanewal.

Thank you for a very elaborate traffic advice.One last question though.What would be the fastest comfortable direct route to Lahore.And by fastest I do not mean non-stop but with over night stay at Sadiqabad or Bhawalpur as suggested by you.How long does it take to Bhawalpur. I would still want to travel the maximum on motorway.Thanks for your patience.

Keep a track on the above mentioned threads about M3 (Abdul Hakim-Lahore), M4 (Multan-Abdul Hakim-Faisalabad) and M5 (Sukkur-Multan) updates because if you want to travel maximum on motorways then these 3 are your best bets.
You can start early from Karachi, overnight stay at Sadiqabad or Rahim Yar Khan and again start early from there and reach Lahore.

There will be 2 things worth considering:
1. M Tag registration. Please check with NHA website or Pakwheels members about this as it is mandatory for motorway users but currently some relaxation is in place, which I don't know will be there till December or not.
2. Fog factor. When I traveled in Late December 2018, fog was not a big issue on N-5, however, I heard news about motorways (M-2, and M-4) that they were closed for traffic early morning and late evening.
