WAS, please note my suggestions;
Take Shalimar Night Coach which runs at 7pm from Karachi, till Faisalabad and then there is a bus service which runs from Faisalabad and will drop you at Mingora early morning. Bus stop is very to close to Faisalabad railway station. Only small issue is that Bus runs in evening so you will have to wait few hours in Faisalabad which you can spend in eating out or roaming the nearby bazars as we did.
This is winter season so your access may be limited in Swat. I think you can opt to Kalam and Malajabba in this trip and then decide to go any further points at the spot considering getting details from locals as well as depending on weather. you can also visit Marghazar while palace if you stay in Mingora or i think you can even stay in Marghazar too.
I think you should alteast keep 4-5 days, atleast two nights in Kalam and 1/2 nights for Malajabba/Mingora.
When i visited Kalam two years back in January, there was only one Hotel open so hotels will be limited in Kalam but you should have better options in other places.
if you reach early morning to Mingora, i would suggest not to take hotel instead take first Van going to Kalam and rent your hotel in Kalam, you may stay in Mingora on your return, please be noted that Mingora is just as a busy town and there is no such attraction in Mingora itself. You should also make a overnight stay in Malam Jabba.
