Planning to buy 1.5ton Haier Inverter - please offer advice

I hope I'm posting in the correct sub-forum here:

I'd like some advice please on purchasing new 1.5 ton Inverter Split AC. I've narrowed it down to Haier but not sure what model is good.

I went to one dealer who showed me a model with "final checking" date stamp of mid 2018. The packaging looked a bit rough and torn so I decided not to buy it. The condenser unit also had a dent in the back - the fins, that is.

He showed me another unit which had a very cheap looking remote control (like those DVD players from the 90s) and quoted a price of 81000/- with installation. I saw the same model at another dealer who quoted 77,500/- with installation. I don't remember the model number but it has this funny looking red strip at the left (HSU-18SNS) - design looked kind of cheap, to be honest.

I'm only looking for a plain/flat white body with white borders, no extra stuff or accents, highlights, all that nonsense. Just plain white.

Can you recommend a model, please? I'm in Khi - what's a good place to buy? I'm not going to Saddar - don't have time for that.

If you guys can list out a few Haier models please that you've had good experiences with, I'd be happy to know.

Bro, if you are sceptical about Haier, then other than Haier, you can also look for Gree and Dawlence.

Not skeptical about Haier at all, I love the brand - but the current choices available seemed really strange. I have two Haiers installed already with good performance and decent design. Gree is way too expensive - prices are starting at 90k for the 1.5 inverters. Dawlence is a brand I haven't considered yet, will look into it, thanks.

I appreciate the feedback - Gree is out of my range - their 1.5 ton inverters are just way too expensive. I shop I recently visited said "they are all the same, with same components and performance capabilities, people are only paying extra for brand association".

This can't be true, can it?

Did not buy it because it was only in red - design seemed kind of cheap and uninspiring, remote control looked very dated and blocky with large awkwardly placed buttons and condenser unit did not have a metal grill at the back. Is that normal?

One dealer quoted me a price of 81k while another quoted 77.5k.

How is the Haier black and grey Crystal series model? I got a 84k quote on that from one dealer.

Okay, a quick update:

I got the 1.5 Haier HSU-18HNM Inverter and I've got to say my impressions are somewhat mixed.

Unless I keep at somewhere around 20-22 degrees C, I don't really feel like my room is getting chilled or cooling down properly. At 24-26 degrees C, the air feels a bit damp and mouldy.

While installing the condenser, the AC tech let out a bit from pressure from one of the shrader valves - so I asked him what he was doing, as I thought he was releasing gas into the air. He said it was necessary on a new AC system for it to work efficiently and the 'capillary tube' to work properly.

I've never seen this done before. Did he release gas into the air? Anyway, I'm not exactly too satisfied with this model as it doesn't cool down the room like my 2-year old Haier 1.5 ton Inverter does, which is actually in the hall (almost 3 times as big).

Is there any break-in period for new inverter ACs? I mean will I have to wait a certain number of hours before the AC reaches its peak factory-intended cooling?

Or is it just the changing Karachi weather? I just feel that it should be chilling the room more, being a new 1.5 ton inverter.

Thank you for the response - Rs. 2800 a month for 6 hours daily operation is unbelievable!

But electricity tariffs have increased a lot since then, no?

I have the Haier HSU-NHM now - it's great although the louvers are not symmetrically aligned at the same angle - I think it's just the way its designed - and there's also no control for electrically moving the vertical fins inside.

Well, can't have it all.
