Planning to buy Aqua 2012 s variant (push start), recommendation and suggestions are welcomed :)

I graduated a year ago and have been saving for past one and half year to buy my first car. Was using mehran before as a student which was given to me by my parents.

I initially wanted to buy City 2010 automatic or mirage 2013 or swift 2013-14 automatic. I had the budget around 14 lac, my daily running is of around 40 to 50 km.

Just came across a friend who's selling their Aqua in black which is 2012 S variant (keyless/push-start) with 70k on odometer. I've always wanted an aqua as a student but now it always felt like an out of range option. However in this case, they are willing to let me pay them in instalments over four months considering our family terms and I can not resist it.

However I want to ask you guys about your reviews on it, do you think it's a good deal in the said amount? Everyone has been scaring me with the battery issue and fan issues. Considering it will be my first car, I don't know much about maintainance. If you can guide me on that domain too, that would be very helpful.

Bro it depends on you're drive Japanese cars are good on well maintained roads but they are problematic in the rainy season.
Aqua has a bad leg room for rear passengers plus if you carry 3 or 4 people on the rear seat majority of times so water pump maybe effected because there is an exhaust on the side of the seat which through's battery heat out in case of 3 or more passengers that vent would be covered so battery heat will not come out so it will have a negative effect on water pump.
hybrid cars don't perform well on bad fuel i had a prius 3rd gen but the reason to sell it was that i could feel knocking due to fuel issue so you need to fill up HI-octane sometimes. hybrid battery losses the performance after 200,000 KM before that startup battery may make some issues so be aware many people may tell you that hybrid battery is dead before 200000 km but it maybe not.
at last hybrid cars don't have a good resale especially if the are driven more that 100,000 KM you may lose a lot of money if the car is driven more that 100,000.
in the end choice is your's by the way there are a lot of other cars in 14 lakh budget so consider them.

2012 model with just 70k on the ODO seems like extremely highly unlikely

Even if the odometer reading when it was imported in around 2015 was 20-30k it seems highly unlikely that in 5 years it wasn't driven much.

Just verify the auction sheet it will refute the 70k mileage.

I would not recommend a Japanese Hybrid if its your first car. Better to go for a local car

Aqua has superb pick and drive but pack oessenger should not be over 5 feet. Its too congested from back seats

I think you have been advised well. Get copy of auction sheet and get it verified.

40~50 km daily run does not justify your choice of Hybrid. 2012 model is too old for my liking.

If you like JDM cars, go for Vitz or Passo.

Update, I've negotiated the price down to 17.5, however there is a rising battery issue in the car, which will need battery replacement. I've been told that's a 1 lac expense, hence it will cost me 18.5 in this case. Car's interior and exterior is decent and it was 4.5 grade auction car.

Overall it seems like you all think I should let it go and go for a local assembled car, yeah?

Just verify the auction sheet from the chassis number and then decide..besides the battery issue it has !!
Even if it was 4.5 grade u need to verify it !!

Verify the car using the chassis number, you can verify using Pakwheels too,if its all clear you are good to go. As the car is from a reference and you have been seeing it I guess its fine to buy otherwise I wouldn't have recommended to buy a 2012 model hybrid from an unknown.

verify the auction sheet through pakwheels and also do the inspection you'll get the clear idea of the condition of car.

If there is a rising battery issue, then I wouldn't recommend you to buy this car, because these hybrids once get opened by desi ustaads, then you will be spending most of your time in workshop as once you get the battery replaced, then all of a sudden, the cells in the battery starts getting weak and need to be replaced. However, if you manage to import the genuine Hybrid battery by yourself from Toyota, then getting it installed by some reliable mechanic who has a good know-how of hybrids, then there is no problem, getting aqua is in fact a good decision.
Aqua is a good car and will give you an excellent mileage, depend on the condition of the Hybrid battery, leg room in rear seats is less, but manageable, other than that, overall its a very good car.
