Good for Indians.
Its meant for the local Indian market. Maybe, probably, for the regional countries like Bangladesh or Srilanka, and few others, but will not make it to Pakistan.
As the Auto Importers of any make are Banned, on Negative list from India. Both countries have a Negative list imposed on each other and Auto sector is included in both sides list.
As far as Arabs are concerned, I think the whole CHARM of a German Made Machine is one Reason why people buy German cars. Its a tough fact. Otherwise, Mexico and Brazil have been making many models of VWs for decades but those do not reflect same tone as buying a real German vehicle comming straight out of Germany, like Porsche and BMWs. Yes, Mercedez has done the UNTHINKABLE as well by going to various 3rd world markets and assembling their cars, but they only assemble the Bottom level C and E class there, which are not popular in Arab world, or anywhere in the world where Big Shots prefer the Mercedez. The Rich around the world, still prefer a Real German Made S Class or SL, or a CLK Made in Germany, over any other Mercedez.
So lets watch and see. Price drop alone will not bring prestige of purchasing a German made automobile, but as I said before. Good for Indians. Its made for their market keeping in mind, their pockets. Porsche for 20 Lac Rupees.. Any Guesses on Prices.. Who wouldn't buy it, over a Camry or Accord... But Camry and Accord are also competing with Bottom Level Mercedez C Class and 318 and 325i BMW, already... So a bottom level Porsche will be a good additional in Indian Auto scene.
