Asalam Alaikum guys,

Hope all of you are doing good. well a few days back i got my car, honda civic 01, serviced and i dont how, some water droplets went inside the drivers side door panel and some how it messed up the drivers side power window. all the other 3 master power window buttons are working but only the driver side power window button is not working. i took the car to Honda Drive-In and they said that the motor has blown and it will cost 20,000rs :eek: . So i wanted to ask that is it the right price what they are quoting or is there any place from where the same work can be done at a cheaper price? please help me guys as its becoming a menace while driving without ac.

original honda power window motor i bought used for 250rs from plaza..
thats the price of the motor.. i bought quite a few,, honda mitsubishi toyota.. use them in projects..

i have the honda motor lying around unused.. but not sure whether its driver side or passenger side.

only motor isnt THAT expensive...

if it was only a case of motor blowing i cud have changed the motor.. but i dont want to mess up the wiring..
theres a place at water pump near pso pump that deals in power window stuff.. you could consult them..

a few drops of water destroying a motor is weird... i personaly took apart a toyota motor.. its so well sealed its almost impossible for any water to get in.. i think motor could have been fried due to electrical fault.. correct that fault of relay/wiring before installing a new motor

even i dont know how it happend because it was working perfectly before and as soon as the car got serviced it stopped working a few days later. and are you sure you bought it for 250rs :o? because if thats the case, i can get it and any electrician can install it then? but there has to be something in it that the honda guys are charging 20,000rs alone :S

This civics particularly driver side motor does actually get burnt with water...ull have more replies like mine with time.

As for the motor, my czn bought a genuine honda one from the dealer for 9-10k, dont rmmbr exactly...it was a civic 05

Just dont believe those stealerships.Simply go to shershah you might get whole essambly in true cheap rates.

this is the motor i have...
it has the honda logo
and made in indonesia..

i have bought 6-7 of these motors, from toyota, mitsubishi.. this honda is the only one.. all were bought for 250-300rs. the honda motor is lying unused with me. the rest were used in robots that i made in university.

thing is i dont think the motor alone is at fault.. there has to be a problem with the relay or wiring or something..

these motors are quite heavy duty and draw a lot of amperes.. and the torque is enough to break your fingers..
i made a mechanism to throw balls.. my finger got caught in it.. broke me nail before i pulled the wires out.. and my finger remained stuck untill i reversed the wires.. chakkar anay lagay thay.. i was working alone.

Go to Maxi Line...There u can Solve the whole problem in 1000 Rs,Dealers are Thieves and Khappay!!!

thanks for your valuable comments @nfssaad, @smartdevil_striker, @skill and @abdullah1. I will InshAllah get a second opinion on it from other local mechanics, not the stealerships' and then look onto it. Because 20,000 for just the motor and fixing charges is way too much.

you probably just blew out the driverside window motor fuse.. It can happen - but water killing the motor only is possible if you dunk the motor in a bucket, get a horse to pee on it or pour acid over it to corrode its sealing gaskets

I got the same problem during Eid time with my Exi Civic 06. The problem was not in the motor, but in the cable connection and PCB card. I took the car to Magzi lane and got fitted for Rs. 1800. The guy replaced the PCB card and used the same connector. However due to damaged connector, I am unable to use the auto function of the drivers window. The new PCB is guaranteed for six months.

Since I got this work done one day before eid, so I might have paid a small premium. Perhaps with a little search you would be able to get a better deal.

I need help in another issue guys. I also wanted to fix up the Retractable Side Mirrors function in my car. Like when i press the button to Retract the mirrors, nothing happens though the power side mirrors function works. Please tell me what could be the possible problem in this and how much it'll cost to fix it up? This is the retractable side mirrors button/function i am talking about:

it could be any thing from carbon in the button to broken or loose wiring or problem with motor..
