Prado Diesel vs Petrol 2020 / 2021

Dear All - I am looking to buy Toyota Prado 2020 / 2021 and confused between 2.7 TXL (Pertrol) vs 2.8 TXL (Diesel). Most people I have spoken to say that 2.7 petrol is grotesquely under powered and Diesel is a lot better. On the flip side, I notice that if there are 250 Prados available on Pakwheels, less than 10% are diesel. I am buying to keep the car long term. Why do people not want to buy diesel? Is it the price factor or some other considerations I need to be mindful of?

JDM Prados are 85% petrol variants. Diesels are either UK models or from Thailand and will be priced high. please visit your city local car market for research. not every vehicle seller is tech savy to engage pakwhees for buying & selling

Why do people not want to buy diesel?

It's because it requires DEF fluid every 7,000-10,000kms which is not readily available in Pakistan and costs more than PKR 15k.

2020 DEF tank capacity is 12 liters while new shape 2024 one's 17.4 liters.

JDM diesel version is for sale since 2014 right when they killed V6 variant. So you can figure out why no one really has bothered to import these models.
