Prado Filters/Oil

Hi

I have a Prado 1997 3000cc - 1KZ-TE. Can somebody tell me how soon i should change my engine oil.

Last time I got the oil/filters changed in June 2009, and used Liqui Moly Synthetic oil, but only used the car for 3000 km.

I also had a problem with the fuel consumption, when i got the nozzles checked I found out that there was almost no pressure at all, so my mechanic serviced the nozzles and tested them. When installed i got a better fuel economy. Now again I feel that the fuel economy has gone bad. Can somebody tell me when should we change the Nozzles. Which is a reliable shop to get the nozzles from and how much do they cost in Rawalpindi.

Please also tell me which Oil should i use and which is a reliable shop in Rawalpindi to buy filters/oil. When should filters be changed. what else should be checked/ changes in regular maintenance.

Use good quality oil such as Petromin Oils
change after 5000km

you should have your nozzles checked every 10000kms at least (for optimum performance).

there are many oils to choose from, just make sure you get the real stuff. as for filters, best are VIC and NITCO, then leppon. the "original" ones you tend to get in PK are all fakes so be very careful as some filters don't even filter!

Use Toyota 3S or of you wanna purchase original but cheaper then buy from Mehran Autos in Saddar Rawalpindi and Younis Autos. Use Toyota Engine Oil its good and change it at 3000km.
ENgine Oil Filter at 9000km
Air Filter 12000 km (or when you feel its over aged)
Diesel Filter 18000 km

Use Genuine Toyota parts and buy from Mehran Autos or in front of them there is Younis Autos (but Younis Autos Baba g sometime sell some things expensive and sometimes have good Juggars also)

thank you all for the replies.

I took my car to the mechanic and found out that the nozzles were not in a good condition, so i got them changed. the diesel filter according to him has swelled so changed that as well.

Since the oil filter and oil was changed about a year ago, i thought that they need to be changed as well but he was of the opinion that it should not be changed before 5000km at least, and because i live abroad the vehicle was used for only 3000kms in this year.

He called somebody to bring the spare parts and charged me 1350 for the diesel filter (according to him it is original but it has a white Tape on the toyota stamp, he says it is smuggled that is why there is this tape.)

But after replacing nozzles and diesel filter the vehicle performance has improved a lot. Mileage has improved which was the main concern and pick and sound is also better. I feel satisfied.

Use Zic 5000, API CI-4 which is best oil for SUVs and change it after 5ks
