Pre Buy Guide - Honda Civic 1984 to 1987 models

We want to buy Civic 1984-87 model, we are tight on budget that why we thinking about this model.
please tell what is good and bad about Civic 84 to 87 model....
What is average on petrol and CNC?
How durable is this car?
Are spare parts available in reasonable price?

NOt recommended at all for this situation. If you say you have got a lot money and you want this as a project car. then we can suggest you, get this car. Look for mehran or khyber, khyber is a better option than mehran.

Shershah has all the parts but you will require quite alot of money. You yourself said that the budget is tight..

Yes but we are buying car in running condition, it is not necessary that we need parts just after purchase,

Ji hai. high chances. Not recommended at any situation from my side. if you find any stock in super condition then yes otherwise big NO.

We kept this car around 14 years ago. Even at that time parts availability was bleak. Dash is foam wrapped but the plastic quality on face of dashboard is seriously questionable. You wont find many cars with this specific plastic intact. On the plus side car is spacious and comfortable with genuine springs and shock absorbing assemblies. Modified and refilled shock absorbers make it same as other local jugaar CNG cars. The car we owned, had been modified for engine replacement and was seriously a pain mechanically, so cant comment on its original engine.

If you are low on budget, better buy a nissan sunny 87 - 90.

first of all please let us know why you r interested in civic. passion OR you are getting a good deal in cheap price?

Remember few things:

As per our market, Keeping old Civic is definitely requires Patience and some good money in pocket.
Mechanical Parts are available but cosmetics and external parts are very hard to find.
Mechanics now a days dont want to work on old cars as they want easy money and ppl dont go to those mechanic who does the correct work and charge a little higher.

as for the civic they are the best cars, smooth, comfortable, comes with many options. enjoyable rides. please post the pic so we can understand and tell how good is the car.

One more thing: if u have no knowledge about cars and mechanicals then better buy a simple mehran or khyber.

Bhai what are you smoking I want to know. The reason for an 84 Civic being of RS. 150000 is because the owner can't keep it good, the interior is efed up beyond repair, the engine is on its last breath, the body needs to be restored if possible, you can't run the thing on petrol let alone you want the AC to work. The only advantage is that it is CNG and a sedan means bigger space.

I am not writing this to hurt your feelings but I own a well kept 80s car and I know what it takes to restore them.

When these Civic came out new they were brilliant vehicles but today with the jugaadi culture she has been ruined.

You can buy it as a daily runner to keep it in as is condition and change it when ever you have sufficient money. But when buying Rust and Mechanics Condition should be your priorities.

bro not smoking anything but lots of people still operating these ancient civics, you find lots of civics on both OLX and pakwheels which are said to be in good running condition on Cng with ac installed...i am not in hurry doing some pre buy research, and if we buy we will buy any civic we will take a mechanic to check to engine etc

I am not saying i am against the car. I am just saying you have better option in your price range.

And trust me on this those people who are saying chilled AC on their ads that will work for a month or so after the purchase and then will give you a fever.

what other options in 150,000/- thousand range, can i find Khyber with CNG & AC ?

in the 150000 range the AC is out of question bhai! either you can have a working car or a working AC.
although you can find a good clean early 90s khyber or better Mehran easily. Same things to be kept in mind before buying i.e. rust and mechanical soundness but rest assured maintenance is way more easy and cheap.
