Assalam o Alaikum. Can you please guide what should be a fair price of Lancer 2005-6 (1.6L Automatic) in Karachi? A good reasonable condition car with no major work required. Your suggestions are highly appreciated!

Depends on the condition of the car. If you get it for 5 lacs you may think you’ve got a great deal but you’ll end up spending 3-4 lacs fixing it........and still there will be some quirks.

Already the price is less than those horrid little eco boxes.

for karachi - the price should not be over 6.5 lacs - MAXIMUM.

also, be aware that spare part availability is very bad for this car

again i am warning you against Lancer and Nissan Sunny - both excellent cars but spares issue hai Karachi me. if you have this budget go for a good condition Liana - you will love it if found good

I have a Lancer 2008 Station Wagon with a 1.8 GDI engine.

Its an excellent car with amazing drive. Since this model had completely different parts then the local lancers, i ended up ordering original parts from DXB. The list includes, OEM double tip spark plugs, all four brake pads, fan belt, timing belt, timing belt tensioner and a few other things. Total damage was around 30 k . Which i think is very reasonable considering everything was as per exact specs and 100% original.

I also upgraded the single fan shroud to double with original controller & fan. got it from Bilal Ganj for 5k

Body parts are easily available in scrap. along with sensors etc...

bottom line is, this car is unbreakable. Just put in some brand new original parts and you;re good for years.

I recently bought a full option lancer 1.6 GLX Sr Auto from karachi for 870 and had to spend around a lack to make it perfect, includes timing belt/beaing/water body, CVT oil, tyres, Complete A/c unit replacement mainly. You will find lancers in 7-7.5 lacks but will have to spend alot of time and money to have a feel of a real Lancer. There are two prices for lancers. One is a dealers wali lancer which has no service history available people just ride and throw them away they are usually not properly maintained they are good as a car but they miss the feel of a Lancer. Then there is a khandaani lancer which people have kept with keen interest with proper maintenance schedule and genuine parts. The dealers wali lancers goes around 7 lacks and the khandani lancers completely depends on the owner usually people dont sell well kept lancers and if they do they dont sell anywhere lower than 9-10 lacks for a full option lancer.
No offence but I will completely disagree with Abid, I have kept a Liana, Civic and now a lancer. I would say civic is 10 times better than Liana in terms of reliability, comfort, handling and most importantly braking, and Lancer is 20 times better than Civic. If you get a chance to drive a well kept lancer you will never think of driving a civic or corolla rest aside a Liana. You will never find a well kept lancer for 6-8 lacks I guarantee, if you are interested in buying a lancer get one in mint condition or you will regret your decision of buying a lancer because bringing a lancer back to life is not an easy task.

I get all spares from Dewan Karachi and I live in Islamabad. Spares are freely available.

You have not spent any more than what a local Lancer owner would have spent on all these parts.

Bringing any badly kept car back to life is a big headache. The mechanics can do the major manual work but the fine tunes are problematic.

I’ve kept a 2005 Lancer 1.6 GLX SR with CVT. Amazing drive and has not coughed up any major work in the 12 years it’s been with me. AC gas and all working fine. Suspension only now starting to show wear in some rubber bushings and other parts which cost around 9-10k. Have replaced shocks once and I think the rear ones need another replacement. Power steering hose replaced recently. Not too hefty on the wallet agar tameez se rakhi jaye.

Very robust car with soft comfortable seats and good rear headroom. I’m 6 feet and my hair don’t even graze the roof! I have a 2015 Corolla at home too which I barely touch because it’s simply not good.

Also, to maintain the feel of a lancer you’ll have to stick to the maintenance schedule and use only genuine made in Japan parts. Agar China/Thailand wala kaam karna hai you phir Corolla he rakho. Gari koi bhi ho, agar well kept hai tou foran bik bhi jati hai aur paisay bhi achay miljate hain.

I agree with taimur. A very well kept Suzuki fx got sold for 5 lacks rupees, but the car was in showroom condition. So yes condition of the car matters.
