Hello, i have prius 2011 1.8 showing me checklight after every 2-3 days. After bringing car to the local mechanic and checking by a computer they told me that there is no problem with battery but still you should change the battery. i ask the mechanic why should i change battery instead i should replace few cells in the battery if they have problem. he told me that the computer is not showing any error in any cell. Now my question is i cannot afford buying hybrid battery for my car, what should i do to make the battery fix. Notes:1. My car battery cells are never change.2. Car is giving me average now 14.6/l. before it was 17/l3. My location is Peshawar
Your hybrid battery is definitely worn out if you're getting 14kmpl. Try searching on prius forum on google to find useful information, because it is an international model.
Exactly
Thanks arslan for the reply, i have search on google for it but i didnot found any solution. can you share any link . thanks

@pwuser151920957368 there is a duct fan under the rear seat which is battery bank cooling fan. Dust & Lint accumulate and block it. use domestic vaccum cleaner and make sure that area remain clean. Cooling fan cause battery bank temp rise and engine can throw Check light. very common erro for JDM Aqua & Prius in Pakistan
without an scanner nobody can declare the Hybrid battery dead or ask for replacement. 14 km / liter is good average and batteries are healthy. Get the vehicle scannned and share the error codes for further guidance.
When ur mechanic scans the car, take a pic of the error code, it wud be most probably p0a8 code, this is triggered when cell voltage mismatch occurs, or when overall pack current capacity is reduced, changing the battry with a used battery or replacing faulty cells, both are same thing, they wud replace faulty cells in ur battery nd sell it to another customer.

Thank you
The error codes don't always mean a bad battery. You can't be sure what the issue is unless you get it scanned and find the error codes. For an example, see this thread of mine below.
Thank you guys for the suggestion.. i will definitely provide Car error codes here ..
Should i clean it myself, or do it by any mechanic. thanks
it is simple DIY can be done at home using a vaccum cleaner. Check you tube for aqua / prius battery bank fan cleaning
