10W40 Mobil1 is not on the approved list for petrol engines.

the shell helix ultra 5w30 and 5w40 both are approved.

As a person who owns both Civic (2013 Vti oriel prosmatic and 8th gen..) and Prius (S 10th Anniversary).. i can safely say go for prius ( Japanese version, Don't know about UK version) eyes closed as it is much better than Civic Reborn :)

muddling with german cars is fun - if you have the right tools for it. namely a working SDS.

the cars requiring SDS to repair are more like a computer with wheels, doors etc etc. Once you get it and have access to a lift and have proper tools - NOTHING beats the reliability of MB.

The older ones, W124, W201, W140 are also pretty neat but require lengthy diagnostic procedures, the common factor with all models whether late or old is NEVER to use cheap counterfeit parts on them, unless you like to burn money.

For DD in Pakistan buy a standard corolla/civic etc, keep it in tip top shape by utilizing the local availability of all kinds of spares for them. This wont be possible with the JDM orphans that are flooding the Pakistani market (read as junk cars)

black smoke can also be caused due to cool operating temperatures... which is happening in your car, right @xulfiqar?

yeah that might be it, but I just noticed yesterday it is leaking oil from the manifold inlet hose pipe.

Dear fellows my younger bro wants to replace his swift with a new car now. We have a budget of 16-18 lakhs max, we are thinking of buying any one of the following three cars:

What do you guys suggest? This car will be a daily runner. Economy is not an issue as he is using swift currently and we all know how good it is on petrol.. My brother personally wants the mercedes, but clean ones are rare to find. Your input will be much appreciated. Waiting for your reply.

so a tie between civic and prius..If a UK model prius is available and that too a clean car only then it will be considered.

Being an old car how do you compare Mercedes w203 to Honda Civic 2010 regarding maintenance, repair and visiting the workshop ?
I want to buy a Mercedes or Honda Civic but I'm confused .....
