It is because of DBW. All new cars have this technology whereby throttle response is managed electronically and not mechanically hence the delay in acceleration. This delay is also in civic. No need to worry here.

1)Reset the information meter/cluster and you will get more accurate readings. Most people dont realize that this meter can be reset and it should be done at each tank re-fill
2)Close the windows and noise should disappear. Have you installed any aftermarket speakers/security system? Maybe that is causing the noise. If not get it checked/fixed. No such problems in my GLI
3)Disagreed. No knocking problems at all in my GLI even when driving at 20 in third gear. Change you petrol pump and use some high octane for a change.
4)Fuel average varies from driver to driver and according to conditions. Cant really comment
5)Agreed. A serious design flaw in all new corollas
