A foreigner friend is selling his BMW 740i Model 2000. I am interested in buying the car. I have searched through several dozen postings on PakWheels but could not find the relevant information.

Diplomatic vehicles have no duty, so in order to purchase it and register it locally you will need to pay the given duties.
Correct me if i am wrong.

The duty payment depends how long the vehicle is being in Pakistan, I am not sure about the exact time period but usually its like 5 to 7 years being used you don't need to pay any duty..

Exactly u have to pay duties and registeration plus fine etc. Last month I were getting a premio for half amount nearly. I said to my father lets go and buy but he told me that we have to pay duties,fine,regd etc which will make the car equal to double which will b 20k more thn he market price. So no Faida

I just got the details of the car. It is 1995 Model and was imported from Japan to Pakistan in August 2007 by Second Secretary of an Embassy. The customs documents show 5th September 2007 as the customs clearance date.

The car was subsequently sold to another privileged person (duty free).

According to the documents, the 3 years were completed on 5th September 2010. I want to know how much I am supposed to pay in the form of duties and taxes now.

Remaining duties for the period of rest 02 years,duty free tenure is for 60 months/ 05 years from the date of import.Now to calculate the amount you first have to get the invoice amount only upon that someone can calculate exact figure.

there are types of embassies
for some you dont have to pay any duty for others duty of 75% car's value and some 25%
i dont know which category your car falls in

Why don't u go directly to Excise office instead of wasting your time here?
