colors will most likely be blue and white. at the moment its ready for action but by the time the next event rolls around, hopefully we will be getting it painted (H)

7 or 8 inch wide rims having 15 inch diameter is good for rally, wider or higher tyres is something for looks only and it being your beast, you have the right to choose whatever you like

@ SK & Usama, I would not go above 8 inches for rim width with these tyres, unless tarmac is what you will be driving on all the time.

Tyre bead coming off will be a constant worry, if you are doing proper high speed runs with low pressures of around 20-22psi. So for peace of mind and much more damped ride on undulated surfaces during low pressure inflations 8" width should be the max !

I don't think you need to worry about the AC part! That problem will go away as soon as you take the windshield off !!!

after all of your valuable suggestions and some lengthy discussions i am now leaning towards 265/70 savero at plus tires on my 16" semi hollow cruising rims. i wanted completely hollow so i could get rid of the spacers but i guess i'll have to compromise for now

Usama, if you are yet to buy the tyres than you can easily trade your 16 inch rims with 15 inch rims of choice, I think i have seen 31/10.50/17 Severo MTs in Lahore, I am leaving Lahore for a couple of days today so ask Aqib Bhai to check with Rashid for these tyres

Ohh,, sorry yaar, typographical mistake,,, I am referring 31/10.50/15,,,,, 17 was by mistake

31/10.50/15 is equal to 265/70/15 which should be perfect for your FJ.

It might surprise you that some of the Dakar front runners opt for 205/90/16s. Though more commonly used sizes are 245/80/16 or 235/85/16

So lean cant be bad. I on the other hand have chosen 245/75/16 for my Evo, this is equal in circumference to Evo's OEM size 265/70/16

15 inch rims would be better because your FJ is already quite tall so to keep the center of gravity low, go for 15 rather than 16s

As i have been told by @tareen that theere are alot of used rims options available in pindi market in very reasonable prices.

I dont mind if its 15 or 16 size as i have to buy tyres too for my FJ.

Actually I am from Abbotabad too, though I am keeping a low profile about it these days Guess, its not really working too well given thats its highlighted as my birthplace on my passport... plus the names of the owner of this 2UZ project and the guy who tweeted the whole thing are no help either

Its become quite tricky to find full hollow / big negative offset rims these days as most modern 4x4s/SUVs seem to have positive offset rims these days.... Also the non-alloy rims (ones that were usually painted white) seem to have gone out of fashion. These were readily and cheaply available in a variety of depths and offsets until a few years ago....

I have seen a few decent 15 inch rims on Rawal Road that were 8 inches deep with something like 2 or 3 inches negative offset. The ones pictured above are something like 10 inches deep with 3 or 4 inches negative offset (these are for 33x12.5 inch tires ideally).

I came across these tires at a decent price ~12k each. Being a Yokohama and BFG fan, I am a bit skeptical about Savero tires, but these seemed to catch my eye. Apparently also available in 31x15.

Very Good A/T tread, Dunlop and Bridgestone also make same tread tyres, these will serve on all surfaces, but decide the rim size first

@sk im using gt savero mtz 33 and im happy with them ...abi offroading ma un ka asal pata chalay ga but if u want the size u have mentioned then i would personally recon continental cross contact A/T which im using on nissan and they are much better

Having said that, we have run 10 inch rims quite extensively with 31x10.5 tires on the Cherokee and the Baltoro Wrangler....most by-the-book friends (namely Akif Janjua) are not supportive of this practice!

Less orthodox people (like Ehsan and myself) would like to get away with cheeky 10 inchers in favour of better on and offroad grip/handling.... i.e. until you get to bumpy rocky tracks like Tilla Jogian where you have to severely reduce tire pressure to get a half decent ride....

Me and Akif, have debated at leangth whether its more vs less likely that the 31 inch tire (without beadlocks) would come off the rim when running extremely low pressure in the sand.... and the jury remains out there!

I can assure you, no consensus can be reached witH janjua sahab, in the end you should do what you feel is good, and then face mosla dhaar baseless criticism from him

sir currently using 2 brands of mts Dunlop grandtrek and gt savero

dunlop has more road noise and less performance on offroad
Gt has less noise and good offroad performance

but im using dunlop for i think a year and gt for only 3 months so this is the comparision till yet hope it all justifies
