yea for about a week i was also worried that we might have hit a dead end. but thanks to the hard work of farooq, suhaib, akif and a lot other chai addicts they finally some how resolved the throttle issue. it did give us some problems for about 10 days but nothing too serious.
another thing that had me worried was the fuel pump. during the test stage in pindi we would only drive the fj for short periods of time so it didnt come up. but once it was completed after about an hour of driving the car would feel like it'd lost half of its power. it took us about a week to figure out it was the fuel pump. after about the second week and the fifth fuel pump, hamid ustad (electrician) saw the worried look on my face and said "these engines are a pain in the *** but the upside is once you get them working right they never bother you again" and Allhamdullillah he was right. its been about three years since then and i've never had to bother with any thing.
until about three weeks ago. every once in a while when i hit a slight bump some times the throttle would stop working for a bit or until i would restart the car and then it'd be fine. couldn't really figure out what the issue was though. on the way to naran i noticed some smoke coming from under the dash while looking and praying it wasnt the ecu i found the grip with the main wire going from inside the car to the engine was very very hot. tried to open it up but it had actually melted shut. abotabad was only about 30kms so there we found an electrician that broke it open and replaced it.
basically the grip was loose so the wire would spark, hence the loss of power from the throttle. once we had that fixed every thing is working fine once again.
