The guy who bought it has Rockstar status!
@usama37, how on earth did you coax 14+ km/L out of that 2UZ?? I've managed a best of 10+ km/L on a 550 km journey with my 1UZ but that also involved about 6 hours of off road driving in 1st and second gear.
A raucous V8 exhaust note tends to do that
i probably got around 10-11 maybe. i'm guessing the tank wasn't filled up all the way cuz you can see a serious drop in consumption at the next fill up. but over all if you drive it around 2000 Rpm on the highways it does about 9-10km/L
New owner is having it converted to auto tranny!
may be we need to start a thread on that now...
So what is happening wih this beauty nowadays?
UPDATE: Touch wood and MA! The Concordia was sold by Usama to our friend Ahmad Younus who bought it for his brother in law. Since then vehicle has been converted to auto transmission and AC added. The vehicle is apparently daily driven by its current owner who is a working professional in Peshawar. All reports are that the current owner is an exceptionally happy man. When asked a question at a traffic light by a new Civic owner after the FJ had chewed up and spat out a couple of road panga civics "iss mein kyaa hai?". His now classic reply was "iss mein jinn hai"!
"iss mein jinn hai" :)) nice
HaHaHa,, Spontaneous.
Somehow, even though the pics links have gone to the dogs, this thread keeps getting views... So in memory of the madness here are some shots...
if not already done and not considered blaspheme, can the complete or break up cost of the project be disclosedmany might benefit by finding another shooukk
Epic thread! Never get tired of it
Broad Strokes for all in completed cost: - Chassis, body and parts etc: 8 lakhs - Gear box and engine: 5 lakhs - Locking diffs: 1.25 lakhs- Planning mistakes: a lil more
Costs would be higher if the same project is repeated today due to inflation.
One key point perhaps not explicitly mentioned here, was that the chassis of this vehicle was reinforced. The original chassis was rusted a lil and I believe we ended up (i) welding the rivets which allow a fair degree of flex on the original FJ40 chassis (ii) added aditional plate across the length of the chassis along key stress points. Lastly the six point roll cage was bolted on to the chassis at the A and C pillars. All together the chassis ended up significantly stiffer than a stock FJ40 chassis and in my view it made a significant difference to how the car behaved in handling and coping with the power and torque...
