The engine is in
FYI it was NOT a bolt on swap due to the fact of s40 hydro tranny used that was slightly bigger with different dimensions . Did some research work regarding the swap online but 3 stage swaps were dime a dozen - everywhere single vtec swaps were being done (that would be pretty much bolt on with oem eg mounts) and incomplete projects of 3 stage vtec left me puzzled
:S
Tried many combinations after hanging the engine but were NOT upto the mark :-!
1) If i used the eg (ek has different pattern) timing side mount , the engine would fit very close to the chassis and the firewall resulting in pulley interference and no freedom to move - overall it seemed to be an improper way cuz the tranny went pretty much away from its bracket
2) Had to improvise so used the modern way of swap and bought 4mm(approx) steel plates to shift the engine a little bit to the left , this was a better option to follow but made things very hectic , in order to complete the swap , other mount had to be re positioned so instead of altering any inch of the engine bay , we decided to use steel plate keeping the anti play and anti vibration in mind
It took us about 3 weeks for the entire mechanical swap , clutch cylinder installation and wiring (still little tweaks here n there to be solved) . I must say our improvisation proved to be fruitful and the results are amazing
Mashallah , the setup is water throwing with almost negligible vibration (next to zero) an entirely soundless setup .
As we re-positioned the engine so one axel had to be altered but the transmission levers/rods were aligned aswell as the axels so it seems that the idea wasnt a bad one and proved to be the proper exceptional way to do it
Due to the lack of availability of an Efi tank , again had to alter the stock one and added a good quality fuel pump that is working in perfect condition but the level of petrol in tank has to kept more to avoid hick-ups at pulling stage near reserve
We used 5 mounts for a stable configuration as the front end of the engine wont fit until the main front chasis support bracket was removed , so in order to accommodate its absence , had to position 2 at the front ends
1) Rear support (under IM)
2) Tranny support (with steel plate)
3) Oem rubber mount (used in 800cc-1000cc cars) (with steel plate)
4) Rubber support to avoid noise and unwanted movement
5) Timing Mount (with steel plate)
