@ahad_civic:
The transplant was tight, as you can probably tell from that single pic posted earlier, courtesty of FLi_GTi (which by the way i didnt intent on posting until the project was complete! Thx dood! Heh!) and she runs like a biaaaatch! But dont expect it to be pulling out fast quarter-mile times since the '06 oriel was the heaviest of the lot and the owner made it clear that he wanted it to be more of a showcar than a drag racer. And 17s with chromes dont help much either! The swap was completed in just 8 days, back in Dec but we were having fueling issues. Had that all sorted out a long time back though. Currently, the car's undergoing interior detailing and other cosmetic work. I intend on posting a detailed portfolio of the work done after its been completed. The short intake you saw was just a temp filter i slapped on that i had lying around in my garage just to get her running. After the interior gets done i'd be shifting focus to the engine bay which will house a longer intake with a spanking brand new filter complete with a valve cover paint job, 4-2-1 DC Sports header, and bits and pieces to go along. The battery's been relocated to the trunk by the way for better weight distribution and to make way for a clean install of the air intake.
And i can make sense of what your saying about the intake setups on the 7th gen's stock motor. I set one up on my prosmatec back in '04 and it actually got detuned. So i relocated the complete pipe to under the driver side fender which actually helped but the biggest culprit turned out to be the returnless fuel system. So we ended up bolting on a 4-2-1 header with an engine management system to fine tune it and it turned out to be pretty fun.
