Guys, I am also a Morris Minor 1000 owner, I have been working on this car from past 2 years (very slow :)), However, last three Months have been wonderful. Engine & Gear Re-built, New Geninue floor fro engine to boot, I managed to find the guy who has been working on interior of Morris from past 30 years and has a done a wonderful Job (hald done). denter took 2.5 Months, Now its @ Painter's place. I arranged all geninue parts mostly from Mr. Ramzan 0333-5229012 & few from UK. Mr. Ramzan has got good invenotry and will be very helpful. He has few cars in his stock as well

been very busy running around town doing a hundred things(top of the list however is being at the denter's) so i couldnt update the thread.

The engine Bay where the coil over shocks had been crudely installed.the cutting seen in 'before' pictures was repaired so the frame and the ancilliaries would fit according to original specs

The Front Strip that compliments the original grilles shape had been twisted turned and pasted on with useless metal and you wont believe this-sheets of thin metal folded as if twith bare hands,the modifier's idea of strength just made me laugh.

the 'patti' was removed and the denter made an excellent new one from a tougher sheet(if you're reading,you know who you are,THATS how you get strength)

the curve you see is where the grille is accomodated was covered up by the previous owner using the same wondrous thin metal sheet that he used for the strip.you can see the cover up in the next picture,some of the metal below is visible.

if theres one thing i thank the previous owner for,it is that he left some original bits here and there,maybe he had to but still,made references easier.

The indicator valence had been modified to take another universal part from the super suzuki mix-i think it would've been better as a dance mix album

I feel very important to mention here that this restoration was not possible at all if we did not have a sample with us....

yes a specimen "original" mini who is in the same workshop owned by a very nice guy named "MOEED RAHMAN"a fellow silent pakwheeler dont know his id,(owns an other mini and a minor too)" was not with us and allowed by him to copy all the panels.....starting from front subframe to rear subframe...from front bonnet to boot lid,boot floor, all the measurements etc etc ...

in the same manner as we did with spitfire...copying our original specimen(red one) and making other (blue one).As the same guy was arranged to restore mini "USTAAD ZAHID" who restored spitfire but without the presence of "specimen" mini owned by Moeed and without his permission to copy,even ustaad zahid was not able to make a single panel or part.........

In the end I again offer any more help from my side..

yes,as i've mentioned before,the original sample-the red mini you see in a couple of pictures here,has been crucial to the project.in fact it was the reason the car was handed over to ustaad zahid in the first place.the speed with which the frames were completed would have been impossible without a sample.

is moeed on pakwheels?
if so,i thank him for his kind permission for which i didnt even need to ask him formally,partly because i was too caught up with my final board exams and didnt even come to the workshop for the first month and a half or so.

the red car is in the final stages of its completion so we wont have the sample for much longer-however we have made the most that time allowed us,some have even gone as far to think (out loud) that i might have had the red car delayed on purpose, but such is all rumour,good only for its entertainment value.

another car that has been used as a sample has been a 1969 austin mini cooper belonging to another mentor,nuerosurgeon-as known on pakwheels.

The firewall had been drilled into and had rotted away from a couple of places,these were filled in and new pieces put in where necessary.i believe rust should be driven out completely by grindng existing metal to check parts which may not show obvious signs of decay.

The front subframe bolts on with a pair of tower bolts on either end,to keep the holes vertically aligned and unifrom a metallic cylinder was placed inside and joined to both upper and lower sheets.

The Wheel arches had been modified to resemble popular after market ones,but the results were far more spot on and hence removed.a better way-one that i plan to use as well,is fiber glass extensions(the right way to do them)which can be screwed on after drilling precisely.failr simple job which leaves the option of reversal open.for the time being original arches shall do just fine.

dammit!! i just wrot a long reply and i got an error. i just wanted ot say bravo on the rebuild and i look forward to seeing more updates.. withotu a doubt lahore has some great mechanics and denters and i have alot of respect for the fact that you are paying attentino to detail on the smaller things as well as the big things in equal amounts. many rebuilds tend to be rushed and these things get missed. keep up the great work and let me knwo if i can be of any help.
