Mercedes benz have their own 38 pin connector in the engine room fuse box which is interrogated with something like Star Diagnosis.
The simple 16 pin DLC under the dash (american vehicles) only shoots out generic error codes, for deeper codes and to read any other embedded systems like the ME (motor elektronic) (EGS) (elektronic getriebe) - gearbox, KLIMA (A/C) you need the sds. Otherwise its a shot in the dark. - You also cannot reset the ME, EGS with a handy OBD scan tool on an MB. It will refuse. You need the SDS for such cars.
In real money it costs about USD 4500/- clones range from USD 400 - 1000/-.
