the awami love of jenwan paint is completely off the hook nuts and stupid, The used car dealer will always try to steal from you no matter if you have an unused car.

Good that you are refinishing the whole car, its the correct way to do it. No-one likes to drive around in a deadbeat, dented, scratched up and faded jenwan paint car. ask your painter to dry sand it first, then wet finish it till 1500 grit paper, rub down with degreaser cloths and then paint and seal it with everything removed. when done, wet sand it again with 2000 grit paper slightly and buff some proper glaze onto the car, top off with a synthetic wax coat applied about 2 times and admire the glass finish.

totally agreed. the dealers started it and it became a tradition. if the owner can provide pics of the painting process and a proper reason price shud not go down. if only the pakistani mentality could be corrected. i think if they want to buy a 50 years old car they would buy in genuine rust rather than respray

most car used dealers in Karachi who have dealt with me once - never deal with me again. I think they dont like being called (a bunch of gaaliyan). e.g. they would be selling a jenwan paint mercedes W126 - with burnt and botched wiring repairs, a red silicone sealed transmission, leaky differential, an engine noisy enough to wake the neighbours, sagged down seats, worn out door latches/straps and even worn out ignition tumblers.. ferget it, its a jenwan paint POS..

e.g. Ive went to see a car in Karachi - cowrolla never been in a car accident blah blah - when I see it - there is a wave in the C pillar on the left, and he says a tree fell on it and it was repaired (no accidents huh?) ar$ewipe.

I think people should be educated. Achay khaasay parhay likhay log aisi harkatain kartay hain... :S

We as a nation are Mostly "Lakeer Kay Fakeer" and wont have any judgement or decision making of our own.. We would all just follow the trend and run of the mill stuff in all walks of life, let alone buying a car ..

I think we should start encouraging such sellers here on PW and should educate and try to change the mentality of the buyers. This is a forum where we can educate.

Regarding Vario; I the topic went off to a healthy discussion I suppose. If the discussion could benefit or play even a minor role in changing the mentality then I think it would be worth it.

So these were two busy days. I couldn't see much progress till the end of eight day therefore I wasn't happy. I was about to fire the painter but he assured me that the deadline would be followed. Similar was the case with denter. He promised me Tuesday so that was my threshold.

After the eighth day, I decided to be on their heads with a "danda" and make them work on the ninth day. The progress made was quite good and when I left the denter was doing the last piece of the car. I have asked the painter that if the denter failed to complete the car by tonight, you are free to take the car to your shop and then ask him to come over there to finish the work as Thursday is your deadline.

The painter have promised me that he will complete ready the car for the final paint coats by the end of tomorrow night i.e. Wednesday. I am quite hopeful that the deadline would be respected.

Today Vario got a new as$, I mean new lights and bumpers. Denter adjusted the front and rear end of the car and tried to minimize the gaps and straighten the lines. Well, I think the car is getting in shape and I kinda liked it.

The back was looking good but the front had some problems but they were sorted out by the end of the day. The interior would be dismantled tomorrow and would be handed over to the guy who would be responsible to clean it. New seat covers would then cover the only clean things of the interior, i.e. the seats.

So basically it was a long and hectic day and I was at the workshop with empty stomach. Apart from all the work, I get to listen the "jawani ki qissay" of the painter. The stories were quite entertaining but because of them the qork was getting delayed. Therefore I preferred not to stand with him for long.

Anyways, now the pictures will show where the car is at the moment.

The car has already started getting into shape. You can compare it with the pictures of the rear end when I got the car.

Original Honda Stanley lights were purchased so that the gaps could be fixed accordingly.

The "19/20 farq" would be adjusted during the final fitting.

The gaps between the bumper, lights and body were minimized. The remaining gap would be finished by the painter.

The body lines were not straight therefore you could see a heavy layer. But they would be sanded to the appropriate width.

Getting the OEM Stanley lights is a good move.
They wont fade like the DEPO ones.

In the meanwhile, the denter played with the headlights. They were annoying because when he adjusted the gap of the right light with the bonnet, the left's gap got disturbed and when both of them were adjusted, the gap with the bumper became an issue.

A final few hits and the light was in place...

I was too hungry to stand there anymore... Therefore, I left to have my breakfast. After a couple of hours when I returned, the denter was working on the foot board and the painter had left. The bumpers and lights were removed and I handed over the headlights to the painter which would be cleaned smoked tomorrow.

By tonight, the denter will fix the foot board and the front impact shield. After that, he would be free for a couple of days till the time he is called again to fit the parts that were removed for the paint work.

So tomorrow, I am hoping to get the interior done, base coat applied and headlights smoked inshAllah.

Unfortunately, like most of the things, it is also missing. Will be fitted along with other components after the paint job inshAllah.

i hope that u will clear that little bit of rust visible in front section of ur car .. i mean metal underneath the bumper/ fender ends ... underneath back light etc
