LOL indeed MBs sort of become precious metal too.......and just HOW precious.....look no further than what they can do to your cash reserves/ bank accounts/ property/...........if you decide to befriend one or two or three or multiples thereof

not to sound smug - but MB have proven to me to be the most durable and low cost vehicle over a long run of time. Its like a timepiece, the price is high but the value in it is even higher.

But my VW Golf was a gem - irreplaceable, literally cheaper than running a motorcycle and had enough room to seat 5 people and 3 suitcases (hatch area was about the same size as a corolla boot. I miss that 20-22 km/lit and the clatter of a high CR VW diesel engine. The sound of the engine was really nice. When the turbo spooled up all you heard was the turbo. Used to kick around all jap cars and then rub it in their face that they got SMOKED literally by an old ghareeb parwar deezal foxy.

- miss those days.

Hard to imagine a Golf as an old "deezal foxy" Many moons ago, when they were still available new, I had my face rubbed in the proverbial brown stuff by a diamond white 1.6 Mk1 Golf GTi on a very winding B-road in Southern England and despite the fact that the quality of driving was not at fault.........it was....and still is, one of the most humiliating driving "put downs" I have ever had to go through. Why....??!!!!.....,Because the car I was at the wheel of was a then four year old 5.3 V12 XJS......I certainly learnt a thing or two about suspensions, body wallow and road grip and how not everything is about bhp that morning! To this day am glad no one was with me to witness the carnage!

I have driven a mk2 GTI in UK - lets say that germans are crazy - they take a hatchback and make it go 200 km/h easily - what sort of "people" is this car meant for "VW means peoples car"

Then I drove a SAAB 900 turbo, its 2 steps ahead of crazy, you can bet the chief designer went like this

This item is called is a turbo - fit an engine to it

anyway - my deezal foxy was capable of literally blackening an entire street when I was in fuel dump mode, it did make the engine go insane too - I called it "excuse me I have not reached full boost yet"

Sirjee how u used to get 20-22kkm/lit? It is very awesome mileage. As standard rated is (as per wikipedia) 7.24 L/100 km.

BTW - Reading ur jawani days make me want to have such days also

vw golf diesel is usually at 20-22 km/lit when in good tune, the original mileage claim for US gallon is 44 mpg, which makes it near 19 km/lit as is.

beautiful car isnt it? - Its strong as an ox and super easy to repair - so easy that to remove the engine you dont require a chain pulley, just a floor jack.

It might seem tiny - park it next to a civic and you will know its the same size, it weighs about 1000 kg dry too. man - I need to get me another one of these, nothing makes sense to me without it now. It was my car that drove back my new bride, it was also the car that I used to carry my ailing father to the hospital at warp speed, And also carried my injured freind from the motorcycle crash (no time for ambulance)

When anyone wanted to go anywhere - while we had a 1.6 Gli cowrolla at home, and nicer Honda Accord etc, but everyone just gravitated to this car as it was super smooth - there is something about the round VW logo that makes it part of your best history

Haha:) I had a run in with this very prince of darkness and its "lucaslessness" only last nite on an XJ6 i have when a wire shorted ! It draws power from a GM 350 cu:in so perhaps AC Delco is the way to go !

in that earlier life the XJS was a pre facelift model and had to be cosseted thru corners; getting out of them on open throttle was fine, but braking into them was a brave thing to do, no match for the golf's sure footedness.....that's why perhaps they call it a rabbit in your neck of the woods. The 3.6HE on the other hand was a very different story.

I kept MK4, MK5 and currently own MK6.. People ask me why always VW Golf GTI.. I tell them there is something I cant explain. And June 2014 I will upgrade to MK7 InshAllah.

Westfakia is now my reliable transport whenever needed. A few weeks back we needed to proceed to Bhurban to rescue a friend and her two dogs after a heavy snowfall. The operational heater was a blessing as we did a quick up and down from Islamabad to Bhurban and back in about 3 hours

To be perfectly honest this IS a Sports and Utility Vehicle...VW was way ahead of its time when they came up with the T-2 design. The term SUV was coined much later but the concept was introduced by VW long before

The heating system is like on any other aircooled VW. Hot air from the engine, fresh air from the vents on the front. Hot air exits from under the rear seat, and screen level..very simple and effective. I hope that answers your question which quite frankly I did not understand.
