Pros and Cons of 17inch wheels

please tell me about pros and cons of installin 17inch wheels with lowered suspention in 02 honda.. pls..

Bro, It will improve the handling of your vehicle, especially around corners and at high motorway speeds. The vehicle will stick to the round in the dry and there will be more grip in the wet. The only downside will be that the ride will become harsher and you will notice more bumps on the road. The other advantage is that your ride will look phatt!

it will improve your handling on the road and on turns,but also itll increase your top speed.no doubt,itll make your car look phatt too,but the major dowside is itll reduce your acceleration,which isnt good if you race.the reason this happens is beacuse bigger whhels means more surface area of the wheel,lesser rotations of the wheel per second.plus with low pros on you could crack a rim.

Well the Pros and there are Cons to 17" wheels and low profile tyres

Pros
-Cornering improves
-Handling improves
-Ride looks Bling
-Brakes have better cooling

Cons
-Harsher ride
-Steering feels jerky
-BRaking distance increase due to moment arm effect
-Tyres will form bubbles due to pot holes
-Suspension damage in the long run
-Turning radius increases if wider tyres are used
-Fuel economy suffers due to increased mass of the wheels
-Acceleration suffers
-Expensive to maintain due to there not being enough tyre to absorb potholes.
etc

I guess the cons are more then pros. 17' are better if the roads are smoother and used for bigger brake upgrade.

true mate...my rx7 used to give me 5km/ltr @ local drive with stock 16inch wheels...now with 18inch wheels i am gettin an average of 3km/ltr @ local drives.

Renesis engines typically have bad mileage. Even on Japanese highways my RX-8 didn't give beyond 6/ltr on the standard 17" alloys.

fe wyears back my friend installed 17 inch rims and low profile tyres in his brand new Cultus and after 7 months the engine of that car was finished.Finally he sold his car

Installing 17" wheels has nothing to with the engine blowing up or being damaged. It does put some stress but shows on your lower fuel efficiency. The engine being damaged is most probably from not taking care of the vehicle and lot of abuse.

He put 17s on a CULTUS? How did the suspension even handle it? The car doesn't look like it can take more than 14s.
