We were planning on booking the FWD variant but the expected delivery is so far off it does not make sense to wait on it for so long when they don't even promise that the price at booking will hold fast (something that Kia offers).

We are holding off until the CKD units are available for test drives and inspections since that is the one that makes sense to buy (~50 lakh).

Lets hope we see the CKDs on road by July at least.

Proton too seems to be messing up their launch of CKD.It has created a buzz but is going to be a two year old model when it comes out eventually starting NOV if they stick to it.

its not like they are giving old or obsolete model, KIA Sportage current shape was launch in 2015 worldwide and in Pakistan it came in 2019.

Agree but puts you off.Should have been in the market latest by JUL this year.Actually its a pretty good car and may still sell in reasonable numbers once people get over the initial reluctance for accepting a Malaysian brand.

It is good car and best bang for buck as in no one give this much features in any other locally assemble crossover. Let the CBU X70 reach to their customers and we will see the response.

Right about the delivery time, but they are only taking 500,000 for booking which is a plus.

Booking for 500k makes sense but you would have to pay the rest 45 lakh plus any changes to the final price, add some more. At that time you won't have the choice to not buy it so you will have to pay in full. Considering how our market tends to exploit consumers I won't be surprised if the price for CKD 'suddenly' jumps to 55 lakh + by July.

in fact they were short on time , they had to introduce before June this year and also had to start local production by them. The pandemic hit and their schedule was disturbed. Pretty sure thats the reason we are not seeing baic cars in the country. MG started agressively and decided to sell a lot of cbus and not disappear from market for six months. They will keep selling cbus until their ckds are ready , smart strategy on some cost though. Proton will be gone for market for good six months and people will lose interest.

i dont know how they r selling so many CBUs MG HS as per Govt. law you are allow to bring 100 units per each variant. Maybe Javed Afridi got special connection with Govt.

Thats where many people get confused, 100 units will have a rebate on duty wheras after that you can still import as many units but will have to pay 100% duty.

There is no cap on the number of units you can import, the point is that duty concession is only given on first 100 units. After that normal 123% duty applies, which MG is somehow absorbing.
