Looking at Proton's pics, I wonder what a big difference a small detail on a car's exterior can make. The shape doesn't attract me at all primarily due to the shape of its front grill. This is the same reason I didnt buy Sportage as I didn't like its front grill either. On the other hand, I find both Tucson and MG highly attractive, I think primarily due to the same reason.

Haven't seen Proton X70 on the road so maybe I'll develop taste for it after looking at it in real, but at present, doesn't look exciting. Is this the latest model globally which is being introduced here in Pak?

This model was introduced in Malaysia in 2019 with a minor and negligible change in 2020.

Accept for KIA Sportage which launched their product in a very seamless and proper manner the rest of the new entrants have taken the zing out of it.Proton's CKD is expected to come in NOV'19.In Jan 2022 it will already a two year old shape/car.I believe Honda insists on launching the same model worldwide for Civics and above.I can't understand their policy of continuing with a 12 year old shape and after such a long wait, what we hear is perhaps the 6th generation and not 7th. generation which will come to Pakistan in JUL/AUG.Same goes for Toyota Corolla Altis.Changing a logo here or a bumper shape can't fool people anymore.And of course the ongoing saga of MG cars.

Yes it's latest model n first gen of proton X70. Even I didn't the like exterior shape but the features n options in this price are far better than Sportage.

PS I have Sportage as well.

Strictly speaking, yes, it's the latest but Geely does sell a "Pro" version of the X70/Boyue which is sold alongside the regular model in China. It has a better looking exterior and interior but it's more expensive.

Much much better.Actually two things totally unattractive with Proton X70 is its grill(old fashioned) and the dashboards facia especially that ugly aluminium strip.I even suggested that they use the Nappa leather on that strip to cover it.
