Proton Pakistan released CKD pricing at time of launch already. Not sure if they will offer it at the same price or will increase it because of all this $ fluctuation . CKD pricing is less CBU.

Limited CBU units at launch.
Executive AWD @ 4.89 Million. [ Imported 100 units ]
Premium FWD @ 5.39 Million. [ Imported 100 units ]

Local Assembled / CKD . Prices will be as follows.
4.69 Million for Executive AWD
4.99 Million for Premium FWD

Unfortunately all manufacturers are doing this. It's worse than lego. At least you use some creativity in lego as well. But what assemblers in Pakistan are doing is donkey work. Same repeated work of putting parts together.

And some fail at this task miserably...
Thing is localisation is an incentive driven by price competitiveness.... If buyers are willing to throw away thier cash why would an assembler want to put upfront money to reduce cost long term and be competitive?
Look at india!!! You can get mg astor under 1 million (zs under 2.5 million pkr?)

True. But once all of these new 'assemblers' are operating at full capacity, there is bound to be an over supply of cars, hopefully that will finally propel the industry to price competition. Filhal tou MG HS CBUs are being declared for $13k at import and CKD kits for $16k (which will undergo additional cost of assembly), which is utterly ridiculous! No benefits of local assembly are being passed on to the consumer. So far only Proton has come up with cheaper prices for CKD vs CBU.

Not going to happen , apparently changan too has capacity to deliver every car within a month but people are getting deliveries 6 months after booking.

Prior to local assembly starting, the final batch of 154 units of the Proton X70 was shipped to Pakistan on Sunday, 17-October 2021, bringing the total number of CBU units exported to the country to 602.
