Q: 2022 Ground realities about toyota KD and pajero 3.2 DID engine

Aoa. Can gurus/experienced persons share the latest about maintenance of these engines. In terms of parts and part prices. 2 years back, 1KD injectors ( one in Prado 2000-2002) costed 180k qabli and 300k from Toyota dealer. (mechanic issue on top of it and most people ended with kz swap) And mitsubishi 3.2 was big no no for complexities.

If your mechanics consider toyota KD engines and mitsubishi did engines complicated then you need to either find different mechanics or forget about car ownership and use uber.

Toyota KD are old technology now and are pretty simple, same with mitsubishi did, they are clones of the old mercedes cdi engines which are more than 2 decades old now.

Lolz. You are right. But xulfiqar Bhai, that why I said on ground situation here in Pakistan. Thank God, I didn't tell you that I bought Prado GX with 3L diesel then. Hehehe

Mechanics cannot understand or repair a mercedes cdi? Or a japanese copy of it?

They are very simple and very robust, all you need is a good scan tool and good working knowledge and good tool selection to work on it.

If your mechanics think that toyota 2L is the zenith of engine design then find better workshops. Your current ones need to find new skillset to earn money.

Since you are an expert of experts in this forum, I have a suggestion. Why don't you make informative technical videos for our mechanics, in Urdu. A kind of distant learning. I understand you won't have much time, I think pakwheels team can play their part.(they may even start allama Iqbal open university type distant learning programs)
These roadside mechanics are playing a key role in keeping cars in Pakistan running. Keep in mind, their back ground poverty, training etc. And end user's limited resources too .Out of hundreds, few are sharp. Some will definitely benefit.
