Radiator fan not working automatically

its 04 vti oriel
one day fan stopped working n temperature needle crossed half,so mechanic switched it to direct,other day i went to nazir autos,they checked the car,switched it to auto n fan started working again but today again its not working n temperature needle was at half,now i dont remember which thing he pulled out n put a wire in it to make it direct,i have put water in radiator n on down piping,temperature needle came down,filled up radiator but still water vapours are coming out of radiator n some water as well trying to jump out,now after 45min,i started car again,temperature needle is still at less than half but water vapours are still coming out of radiator n fan isnt working
is this fan switch?
i tried pulling out with little force but since i am not sure so didnt tried hard

there is thermo fan switch in the pic above...
first of all connect the fan direct to bettry to check if fan it self is fine or not if working than the thermo switch is faulty i guess..
to make it direct of sometime remove the clip in the above pic and short the both wires- it will work direct

this plastic thing is fan switch right?
i tried taking it out again but it feels like if its glued

dont what ur mechanic did but its a clip type thing press it and pull it it will come out...

If your mechanic put it on direct then he must have cut some wiring...and this clip is plug and play......

Also I think the thermo switch is faulty get it checked

before condemning the switch, ensure you can get the fans to run by removing the relay and bridging the larger pin sockets with a jumper wire.

This thermoswitch connector is hacked up, best to go to the yard and buy a connector or get a new one from the showroom, you can also buy wires with end pins and take apart this connector and install new pins and solder the wires to the original wiring.

One wire to it is direct body earth and one goes to the fan relay in the fuse box. Verify you have continuity in the circuit.

i turned on car again,took a small trip,car needle was at 0,came upto normal position,didnt crossed that,checked fan so they were off,turned AC on and both fans started working,so is it back to working again?
or could it be something that fans r working wid ac but not normally though when it got hot b4,even then AC was on but when i opened bonnet,at that time AC was off

@chaudhary9: I faced similar issue couple of days ago on my 05 Civic. On my way to Pir Suhawa I realized that the temperature needle is going a little above than normal range. I stopped the car on Daman-e-Koh and found out that the fan was not working. The first thing which really confused me was that how the heck needle stayed normal from Scheme 3 till this point. Just to check I turned the AC on and realized that both the fans are working and that is why the car temperature needle was on right place as I drove with AC on from Scheme 3 to Murguzar Park. I turned the car back and came to workshops in Sitara Market and the mechanic told me that this very switch in your posted pic is faulty. I got the fans direct at that time and came back home.

Next day took it to Arshad Ustad in Sultan ki khoo and he said the samething. Got this switch for 400 and got it replaced. No issues after that.

how did u noticed the needle going above,i mean did u turned ac off n then it went above?
i dont know why i never look at cluster during driving (i just keep my eyes on road) esp at temperature needle n when i start looking at it,then its just needle mostly lol

what is this switch called?n did you bought from sultan ka kooh or is it available normally at shops?

@chaudhary9: Yes I noticed the needle going slightly up when I turned off the AC. I also usually keep my eye on the temperature gauge while driving. Not sure what exactly it is called. Arshad Electrician gave me the switch and asked me to show it to shopkeeper to get one. I did the same. I purchased it from a phatan. Initially he said 900 but when started communicating in Phushto he came down to 500 and eventually gave it to me for 400.

I had similar issue with Liana. The electrician did it direct. When i asked him to make it automatic he could not do it as while making it direct he had damaged my ECU. I got my ECU repaired from Lahore and now it is ok. I can provide the contact of that amazing electrician. Call me if needed. Mumtaz 03008465671
