Law and Order Situation:
Overall the situation was ok and we travelled even at night but didnt see any issues. The police is very nice and cooperative. The locals were very helpful. There were a lot of check posts but we were asked to prove our identity only at 2-3 points. It was great to know that the crime rate in Hunza is almost zero percent. There were a lot of tourists in Fairy Meadows and Hunza which was quite a good sign but Saturday's killings will have serious effects on it. I cant see any tourists visiting Pakistan in the near future after these killings. Very Sad.
Road Conditions:
KKH from Hasan Abdal to Thakot is in awesome condition.
KKH from Thakot to Dasu is in pathetic condition and the average speed cannot exceed 20-25 km/hr
KKH from Dasu to ahead of Chilas is slightly better and you can touch an average speed of 30-35 km/hr
KKH does not exist in Raikot area. When you are 10-12 km before Raikot there is no road at all. This situation continues 8-10 km ahead of Raikot as well. Work is in process in this area and will hopefully be completed within this season provided the Chinese engineers continue to work after the tourist killings at Nanga Parbat.
KKH is in awesome condition from 10km ahead of Raikot almost till Atabad Lake. At Atabad lake, the work is in process to revive the KKH and a lot of tunnels are being constructed.
Below are some teasers. Will continue to upload more pictures as i find time.
