Rawalpindi to Karachi via train

salaam all!

I am planning to travel from Rawalpindi to Karachi in September this year via train on Tezgam ( I assume its the only train service from isb/rawal to Karachi) and was wondering if anyone here has done same trip on Tezgam. If so, what were the experiences, how long did it take etc..? What class would you recommend to travel by for the most comfort?

it takes 26 - 28 hrs and i will recommend AC sleeper.

There are few more trains that runs between RWP to KHI. These are Khyber Mail, Awam Express, Pakistan Express & Hazara Express.

However, Tezgam is the best followed by Khyber Mail. Use AC Sleeper or AC Business.

Well I have travelled through Tezgam from Karachi to Rawalpindi few years back. It took around 29-30 hours for the whole trip but I assume that this situation might got better by now.

I booked a separate private compartment (Coupe) for two persons as I was travelling with my wife. But you know such compartments are not easily available unless you have a source with in Railway or either made an 'under the table' settlement with the crew. Overall it was a good experience with in affordable money, only if there is no time constraint with you.

No AC sleeper in Tezgam, it has business class instead and it can accommodate 52 people. Book well in advance to avoid inconvenience.

Wrong. AC sleeper is available in Tezgam. AC sleeper is also available in Khyber Mail.

However you wont get that many bookings in AC sleeper.

25 people can easily accommodate in 4 cabins of 6 people each in Business class. Its ticket is 3400 per head (adults). Book well advance as its rush season now a days due to kids summer vacations.

Discounted fare is always provided in winter season but this time they extended it in summer also. This new minister is good.

so how many AC sleepers seats are available in total in a train one way? from the seat availability link it hardly shows me more than 6.

What if I book well in advance?

and what is the difference between ac sleeper and business class?

About booking well in advance, these luxury classes especially AC sleepers are regularly used by senior officials of railway and government so you will never be able to get your desired number of seats.

Yesterday i traveled in khi express ac sleeper which was big disappointment.. it was old coach which ac was not working well. On the other hand, ac of business class was too chill even the passage seats.
