Rear defogger fix up?

anyone knows how to fixup the rear defogger brokern copper foil or to get it fixed up from somewhere in lahore.

Asked a couple of electricians. Told me to change the rear wind sheild. damn.

There Must be some thing that can be done to restore its functioning.

Comments plz. I am in lahore. If you know any one in Lahore who can fix this up, i will be obliged to know the phone or address of the guy.

The rains of last couple of nights made the rear screen go blind with mist and fog. yaar baar baar ac laga ker peechay wind screen ko direction kerna pertA thaa.. only option available at that time

One more thing i need to know. Honda Civic 1997 has two jacks/clips/plugs on both side which are to be attached somewhere at the windscreens bottom but the deck/speaker fixing guy has broken them both from the windscreen and i couldnt find the the other ends of the loops on which these mountings are to be fixed. I think i have to cust those plugs now, take the bare wires but i don know how many are those wires and where to attach those and should this nail polish with copper powder will be good enough for holding it even in the strong heat of summers in lahore? how do you find out if any copper foil si brokern. Mine seems fine but the electrician said that these might be broken from somewhere so its a gone case:(

i'd suggest you have your clips soldered back to the rear window if possible as the nail polish and copper mix will not hold it in place.

best way to check if your lines are damaged is to activate the rear defogger ande see if any of the lines don't heat up and clear the window. if any are broken then you can use the nailpolish and copper mix to fix them.

I dont have the clips of the rear wind shield. I think i have to get them from bilal gunj or from montgomery road. The guy who fixed the speakers, removed the original board and then fixed the wooden board says that there were no clips attached to the windscreen. anyway, i ll try to find out the clips from somewhere and will get them soldered from WHERE? that must be soldered with some brazing alloy right??

thanks for the welcome back message yasir bhai, for the soldering i'd suggest you try getting hold of beeberg and imranbhatti as they are the DIY gurus of LHR and should be able to do it for you in a few minutes.

Yes the clips should be available in bilal gunj, that place has everything!

Ok, firstly i ll get the clips and then will contact beeberg. Hope he will help me in this as i don know how to solder so i will contact him after i get the clips.

To check if there is some broken circuit in the defogger grid, you can use a volt-meter and check all the lines connectivity. I have a problem with my defogger and was wondering what to do, is there any place from where i can get a defogger repair kit. Mine has problems with the defogger grid.

My mechanic still couldnt find the clips for the backscreen to solder them. Plz see the pics and kindly let me know if there is any other possibility of fixing it?

yeah:$ after one year coz defogger is needed in winters. I asked my mechanic last year but he could find the clips so i ignored it. Now again i asked him in december but he still says he couldnt find it in bilal gunj. And he also does not know how he will solder that thing with the copper wire on the screen.

It looks no one is doing this kind of stuff in lahore.

BTW i have marked the solution. Assume green line as a soft (Multi strands) wire sold it on main contact point at defogger,on the other side of wire crimp ordinary available male type terminal & get it fixed in black jacks.

so guys,any one was able to get the defogger fixed?
tomorow i will try to hav a closer look on mine nd see where the problem lies.nd then fix it wid nailpolish+copper powder solution.this seems to b the best idea.

I think you might be able to find the clips from Montgomery Road. Not new ones, but from broken windows. What happens is that when people get their rear window changed, the old one is simply thrown away in the trash. Go to Montgomery road and try to find people who install new windows, they might have a broken screen available that you can salvage the clips from.
