Rear Tyre jammed

Dear Pakwheel fellows i am facing a problem with my Altis 2006.I serviced the car from total service station and than i didnt use my car for 5 days and after 5days when today morning i started my car and insert the 1st gear it refused to move like hand break is onn i checked the hand break car wheels and than find out that driving side rear wheel is jammped.i looked up for machenic but bez of holiday no one is available so kindly help me out if an one have ever faced such experience?what can i do to remove this jammed?

Break pads got hard.

put some blocks around the 3 wheels put car in P if auto or in 2nd gear for manual. release the hand brake jack up the car a little so the jammed wheel is raised from ground and try to rotate the tyre in either direction if it works fine if not remove the wheel and use light weight hammer or a wooden plank or block to bang softly on the clippers and rotate the disk it will lossen up.

• when was last you got the brakes serviced, the break pads must have worn out and clippers rusted. at the service station did they gave a DIESEL shower under carriage

break service was done around 2500km back to 2.5 months and fater that its working fine.its for the 1st time i guess that i serviced the car and didnt able to use it for 5 days and facing thi problem.what if i pulled up the jack and than try to routate the tyre ?will it work/because i dnt want to open the tyre

Please read again i said remove tyre if it fail to rotate
so it is confirmed after your statement that under carriage got a 'matti-ka-tayl mixed oil bath' seeped into clippers in 5 days it was parked.

It most probably happened after the service because the water makes the brake shoe hard. I usually have this problem with me after i park my car after a drive in the rain or after service and after parking it overnight the brakes jam. But it always unlocks after i push the accelater. offcourse it does so with a jerk but never had to open the wheel and use a hammer to do so.

sorry for such a late reply as i was a bit busy in routine schedule..well i was unable to make it move so i contacted my meachnic and he opened the wheel and cleared the jam by some soft hammer hittings....than he told me when ever you drive the car in rain or service it and u have planned not to use it for three to four days than never pull the hand break.always park the car in gear so that it cant able to move.
according to meachnic its the very common probem specially in corolla's and there is nothing to get worried.beside all this it was a new experience in my life as i have never faced this issue before. anyways thanks for all members for you valuable suggestions:)

most probably the parking brake system inside the hub of the disc jammed up, btw what grease does your mechanic use to service brakes and does he flush old brake fluid out?

the moisture may have caused the brake pads to swell and stick..

Reading through the post I am a bit amazed that Toyota would make such a car with this problem, and the mechanic who advises the customer to avoid using handbrake after service or driving in the rain....wat if this problem occurs and u r stranded on the side of the road.....really unprofessional on both parts....hope u don't get this problem again.....

^^ the problem behind it is that the mechanics use extremely cheap grease on the brake parts which is highly unadvisable, They do not have antisieze or proper brake application grease. Using wheel bearing type grease on the parking brake system will jam it up no matter if it rains or not.

Brake liner is made of asbestos,this material gets swelled when dips in water, and gets stuck with brake drum when hand brake applied in wet condition,and if vehicle parked over night with hand brake applied.So it is recommended that never apply hand brake after having serviced or passing through deep water.
