Since proper circular seals are not available for air filter, the shop keeper gave me a long thick rubber piece which I had fitted on the lid with some samad bond.
The air filter had some cracks so irshad and I had put some grey rtv to seal them.
You can see the rubber seal on carburettor as well

Secondly, I need some guidance wrt choke. The first pic is when choke wasn't pulled

And the second one is when the choke is pulled. Just that the plate is tilted, nothing else

Your choke plate isnt moving, that plate should completely close the primary throat, its mechanism will also engage the throttle lever and raise the idle speed.

Adjust the cable correctly.

And remove the top of the carburettor and check the float level and adjust it as required, and make sure all the tiny tiny air passages in the top are clean and open, if they are not then you will never get it working right.

I posted the wrong pic. This is when choke was pulled. It moves by about 30 degrees

It should fully close the throat, when you fully pull the choke knob out, the plate should rotate to about 75 degrees and block the throat.

You can move it by hand to see what im talking about.

Are you not pulling the knob tully out? It has 2 positions, first one is fast idle and moves the plate almost negligible like this, and one is full choke for start where the throat is blocked.

To start, you pull it out full, and start engine, as soon as it fires, you push it back to first position, it will keep the rpm at about 1500 and you should push it to off fully once the engine is smooth. (Warmed up or you are driving continuously where you dont have to idle again on cold engine)

More updates.

Spent the day on improving engine room aesthetics.

1) took out as many bolts as possible, soaked them in 30% citric acid to remove rust. Spray painted them after washing with surf
2) washed both the bottles (radiator and shower) after applying some baking soda. Soda ended so couldn't make a thick paste but nevermind. They look much better now
3) painted the wiper motor mechanism and master brake cylinder.
4) Spray painted bonnet holding rod after cleaning it with sand paper

Your battery doesnt have a holding clamp?

Is the grounding strap to the front clip installed?

You need to install the factory air tube which ends up infront of battery, its a cold air intake.

If battery theft is an issue, mount battery in cargo area. It will have very long life too.

The front grounding strap is from exhaust manifold to front fascia panel, looks like woven fabric, its actually copper.

@Xulfiqar now a days most car owners have installed cages due to theft issue and the thieves are now diverted. They are now pulling out all the wire loomes visible in engine rooms when they are unable to get the battery. this is more damage than the battery theft.

i wonder what will happen when they start pulling out computer cars and catalytic converters.

Installing battery in boot/trunk has advantage that nothing is accessible in engine room, the main battery cable will be at the self starter, which is hidden. The ground cable also somewhere down.

The cages themselves are being stolen for selling in scrap weight too now.

Also, planning to make a small window here for all future cleaning purposes. Unbolting wiper motor time and again loosens its bolts.

Is this amount of water leak from AC in the cabin normal?

Basically some dampness and sometimes one can feel a few drops on the legs

You use a thin dia pipe against your ear, move the other end over the exhaust manifold to detect the leak.

The evaporator case is leaking, is the evaporator (cooling coil) original to your car or some jugaarbaazi fitting?

Absolutely no amount of condensation from ac is normal inside the cabin.
