Reborn vs Altis

Sincere advise and suggestion needed.

I am Civic 2000 EXI user and looking for upgrade. With the budget of 1.2/1.3 Mil, have shortlisted Reborn prosmatic Oriel and Altis 1.8 SR.

Thou i am much bend towards reborn considering its comfort and style, ppl are mostly suggesting Corolla over Civic considering its maintenance.

Can anyone guide:
- Is reborn a good option?
- What are usual issues/maintenance that i have to consider including its estimate cost if i opt for Reborn?
- Fuel average of Reborn is around 7-9 KM/L. What about Altis 1.8?

P.S: this will be my daily use car for office

I dont think that Reborn is a good option unless you have tons of money laying around.
I guess if you buy a second hand car both will have same maintenance at the moment of purchase

AC Filter
Air Filter
Alignment (Depending on condition)
Brake pads (Depending on condition)
Coolant Replace
Transmission Oil Replace

Now coming on to the maintenance that reborn will require more would be of its suspension, it will definitely be in worse condition than a corolla and cost of suspension work on Reborn will be expensive too
Same goes for any part regarding Reborn it will be more expensive. Yes its a treat to drive with the comfort and all but it require slightly deep pockets to keep it in good and running condition.

Mileage will be almost same of both cars no wonders there Altis will have slightly better

In the end Altis would be a wiser decision

i recently got a Reborn and apart from fuel consumption i love every aspect about it it gives me 8 at max if i am being very gentle with it else it can easily drop to 6 if i push it around

Corolla vs Honda is a well known platform to be debated on, if you are confused among selection b/w Corolla nd Honda then first go for your priorities and needs. Then it will be quite easy to choose. For example, if you want luxurious drive, comfort, looks, road grip with efficient braking system then go for civic. On the other hand if good market value/resale, maintenance (however there is not much difference in prices of parts) rough use like some time loading luggage in trunk etc are your preferences choose toyota. If I would be on your side, I would have chosen civic offcourse.

8th gen Civic parts are cheaper than a Corolla of the same generation. If you go the kabli route, parts are even cheaper than a Honda City's parts.
And it comes with an immobilizer.

@OP go for a neat 8th gen civic. Dont settle for 1.2-1.3 million cars that look fancy to buy. Buy a mint car.

I meant OEM parts
Those are expensive of Honda
Aftermarket ones yes are cheaper of Reborn

And yup Immobilizer is a huge plus in Reborn

In my opinion both cars will be fuel guzzlers if used as daily commuters. If you can afford the fuel even then I would still suggest a 1.3 City. Newer model and more fuel efficient.

OEM parts are of the same price for both cars.

For example a Japanese new Inner CV joint costs around 4000, both for an 8th gen civic and as well as for a 10th gen Corolla.
Ive never seen OEM Corolla parts cheaper than a Civic's. Even if they are the difference is negligible.

Seems both cars are the same and its just the myth.

And what about the most common problems (mostly on cars after 100K mileage) like Catalytic Converter System choking, power steering assembly leakage, AC system etc.. Resolution of these expensive?

If you can afford the fuel even then I would still suggest a 1.3 City. Newer model and more fuel efficient.

Within City. Home - work (parked till evening) - home.
I am in Karachi and mostly will be driving on Shahrah-e-faisal (by myself).
Avg daily round trip is 40KM. I am usually light on pedal with max RPM upto 2500.

Automatic, light on pocket (Fuel and maintenance) and drive/comfort are my preferences.

I am personally more bend towards Civic (considering its drive, comfort and looks). Avg of 8KM/L is manageable. Secondly, i am maintaining a 19 Yr old Civic very well.

Wondering if this newer generation will be even more painful to manage?

why buy a 1.8 if you want economy and drive on a light foot?
Why not something that makes a bit more sense. like a mint 2006 civic, or an axio, if 8 is manageable, why not an accord, won't have too much of a difference to maintain if its a clean car

Reborn if not in pristine condition is a white elephant..but same is true for Corolla as well..minus suspension. None of these cars are considered for economical drive... however..altis 1.8 at that time was very rare..so whatever car is found in perfect shape..get it.. both are equally good .and altis had cruise control as well at that time.. reborn was lovely as well.

Both cars will nearly be a decade old and it's a challenge to find one in mint condition.

I'd say go for either one if you can get one with low mileage, no major accidents and a full service history.

Bro are you saying that reborn's comfort is better than that of altis? I didn't drive it ever yet, I've driven city and eagle eyes. At the other hand, I'm a regular Corolla user, I've found every model of Toyota better than that of Honda's in terms of suspension and comfort
