Reborn vs Gli

In the budget of 16 to 17 lacs in isb, which one should I buy, Honda civic Reborn (2008-2012) or Toyota Corolla Gli (2009-2014)??

I am the proud owner of a 2010 manual reborn.
It gives me 9.5 till 10kmpl with AC and I am not a mellow driver.

According to my experience 1300cc Gli gives 11 to 12 kmpl with AC.

People say that reborn makes you visit workshops often, is it true??

Get a car that is newer and has lesser miles on it with a proper maintenance history, only way you can save yourself from visiting mechanics/junkyards often.
Civic has better driving dynamics, better power, more bells and whistles if you get a UG.
Corolla has better fuel economy(comparatively), more comfortable ride(civic rides hard), and is cheaper to maintain.
Both cars are equally reliable if maintained well.

I currently own and daily drive a 2011 Civic Prosmatec, but also owned a gli 2010 8 years ago.

Pros for civic:
Interior feels more upscale and beautiful compared to gli
Better acceleration, braking and handing
Better seating position for the driver and front passenger
Beautiful shape of the car, however, this is subjective.

Cons:
Civic will need more maintenance over the life of the car(engine mount, power steering fluid leak)
Suspension not as soft neither as robust compared to gli
More wind and road noise on highway
Smaller trunk size
Worse fuel economy in city driving, similar on highway

Pros for Gli:
Soft suspension which is more comfortable in broken and badly paved roads
Less maintenance required
Easy to sell and buy(in Karachi)
Stock car is overall more silent in the cabin, more trunk space.
Better fuel economy in city diving

Cons:
Coming from an 8th gen civic the car feels very anemic and slow to respond. Even a prosmatec is a lot faster than a manual gli.

I've tried my best to summarize their pros and cons. However, the bottom line is, if I were to drive the car myself most of the time, I will get the Civic 8th gen. If it will be a chauffeur driven, or driven by everyone in the family, I'll get a Corolla Gli.

There is no comparison to be honest with Gli. Reborn..if u can find in lush condition is far far far superior than any Gli. Avoid bad condition reborn as its a white elephant. Gli will be reliable car with cheap maintenance but will lack the power and drive of reborn..again reborn must be a sheesha piece only

Funny when i hear that reborn maintainance is higher than gli go for civic maintainance is same for both cars,infact reborns prts are cheaper in used parts market ,for new parts price is more or less the same,civic is more comfortable and nothing happens to suspension,my car is 240,000 kms driven and still on its original shocks and sterring rack has been replaced twice which could have been repaired but i went for changing as repairing was costing arnd 6 k and the whole rack costed me 10k ,yes there is an issue of engine mounting going bad but one can spend 14k after 2-3 years for a new original piece or 3k for a used part piece (using one from last 2 years,before that used a chinese part which went bad after 6 months and that was the warranty it had )
Gli has just a slight better fuel consumption and a better resale value
And tbh my reborn gives upto 12km/l easily if i drive with a light foot and that is the same consumption you would get from a gli,on heavy pedal reborn given 8-10 which is almost the same for gli
The other issue is power sterring oil leak which can be sorted out by getting an eps which will cost arnd 25k and you will have oil free life

What made the steering rack to get replaced twice??

240k drvien car on every type of road from top end of pakistan(Khunjerab) to lower end of pakistan(karachi) ,have been on road to skardu aswell and i think one time tour of that road is enough for the rack to go bad

And the rack was ok ,rack has further kore parts which are some rack ends something like that they went bad which can be easily repaired but the syerrink rack being cheap i went for that,its been arnd a year since i replaced it and going perfect till now

A reborn owner told me that there is an issue of tensioner in some cars, what is a tensioner and what is its issue??

I have not faced it yet ..... so I can't guide you on this matter

Tensioner issue is there in every car not only reborn,it has a life like every other moving part,the issue is it starts making sound in reborn but nothing happens to it,my cars tensioner started making sound when it was arond 180k driven kept using the car with the sound for around 20k kms but nothing happened to it nothing broke nothing happened,replaced it with a used part fro 2k working perfect from last 40k kms

Which Oil do you use and what is its milage per litre after 240k??

Arnd 12 normally and if bit flooring then between 8-10
On long jf speed is maintained between 80-100 then average is 16-8
Annd on 120 its 14 15
And on 200 its 10
