Man I saw this such a cool Beetle yesterday in a showroom in Bradford. It was like Sameer's beetle shape but in orange and also with a cloth fold away roof. It won some trophies aswell (Think it was a show car) but the showroom guy didn't let me take pics, still manage to sneak some R8 and Z06 pics....

you are in oslo, get them now. BTW none of us VW owners are bothered with the tyres, they are made to be used. shiny shiny tyres are for new cars only.

thanks, as for the rims, they are going to stay matte finished, i can't stand gloss black on rims.

 Im afraid the chances of finding the ashtray pictured are slim at least in Karachi.

 Its almost impossible that a 1303 comes in for scrapping at Shershah and that too with any useable parts on it. Ive heard of one being scrapped many years ago but it was just one and it was too gone to be saved.

1302 do come in once in a blue moon.

I have gone through almost the whole inventory of two major Karachi VW spares shops and have never seen 1303 parts, not even a single knob so chances are bleak.

I strongly suggest you buy one off Ebay as it would be much easier and would give you less headaches. It should not be too expensive keeping in mind that Super Beetles are not very popular in the US and UK.

You can lurk around thesamba also but the prices tend to be higher.

thaks alot for the feedback on the KHI market. can you imagine i found a complete dashboard from a 1303L (with wood trim etc) for $100 and it was spotless?!?! sadly i no longer carry a credit card so i'm not really bothered to order stuff from anywhere to be delived to PK. will just go visit some scrap yards in the UK for tiny bits etc as most parts are not LHD specific (like the ashtray).

I wish this car was not in PK, it would have been completely ready in alot less time for about the same amount of cash.

 I also dont have a credit card, am being chased by half a dozen banks but Im somehow afraid to get one. It'll be a big burden on me as I know Ill go wild with my shopping on the www!

Will agree on the amount for completion as far as parts go but labour charges would have been a multiple abroad.

right in the heart of london. any scrapyards you can point me to will be a great thing. I also haev credit card companies chasing me but i believe in speding what i have and not going into debt at any time in my life.

as for the rebuild being done abroad, i have full access to the NS racing garage at any time as my friends own NS Racing, labour would have been next to nothing as i would have worked off the labour charges by working on clients more modern cars in place of one of their mechs who would in turn work on my car.

^ i was initially, but those were 17's, i'm no longer into bling bling, i believe forms should follow function on such cars. there are little to NO advantages to having big rims on a VW beetle, and the choices are so limited over here in terms of rims & tyes (and the poor roads) that i decided to be realistic and to stick to what VW initially intended on the GT and racing versions of the type1.

 For reasonable deals you would have to move away from London.

 I did discover a VW only garage somewhere in between Ealing Broadway and South hall. It was on one of my crazy walking sprees when I stumbled upon it, went there three times but unfortunately each time it was closed.

Im sure there are more in the Surrey area and outskirts but again they would be expensive.

Would strongly suggest making some plans to travel out of London. If your trip is planned you should book some coach tickets now (to avail deals etc) and chart things out.

I do know of a famous place in West Midlands (this garage was featured in Discovery's Beetle Crisis) where you actually have a queue of customers every time. Also one very very reasonably priced chap in Bristol worth looking up.

Let me know what your plans are. I might give you a brief wish list if you could manage it.

honestly i wanted to keep the rims on my car till i found a decent set but sadly the painter screwed them up with acid (from the bodywork) and i couldn't get the centres to shine any longer so i had a few cans of matte black at home and tried it. I was so happy with the results that i decided to stick with the setup till i can find a set of (ideally) widened steel wheels or some 8-spoke empi rims.

the main reason i stopped focussing on "rims" was that after i sat in romanos and his friends car i realised that i need to focus more time, effort & cash on mechanical right now and less on the shiny stuff.

i'll pick up a copuple of VW mags when i get there and i'll see where i can make it to. as for your parts, let me know and i'll do what i can for sure buddy.
