Updates:
yesterday i got home and swapped out the plugs on the 1303 with the new ones which were in the 182, then i thought i'd check the fitlers etc only to find out that the oil bath (air cleaner) was almost completely dry,.. no wonder my engine oil kept getting murky after the oil changes!!
Thoroughly cleaned out the oil bath and filled it with 10W30 oil (it's is winter afterall),.. next i checked the points, distributor, etc all seemed well till i noticed the dizzy cap had rotational scuff marks on it which meant the rotor arm had been hitting it from the inside (not a good sign),.. swapped out the cap with another one i had and shortened the rotor arm length a millimeter or so.
now, the rough idle issue,.. my car never idled smoothly, instead it used to rock like it was fitted with hydraulics! i raised the RPM to approx 800 (up from approx 700) and now she purs like a kitten (with a sore throat - more on that later)
i always felt a little resistance when i used to change gears and i found that the ball at the base of my shifter was DRY!!! added a little lubrication and now it's like butter,.. WOOHOO!!
I had removede the rear inspectino cover from the 182 and had my driver put it away so i can fit it at a later date to the 1303 only to find out that the cover has gone missing and that driver is no longer with me so i have no idea where he's put it. the battery of the 1303 is also on the way out but rather than cvhange it now i think i'll take the brand new battery from the idle 182 project for now as it needs a complete fuel line so will be idle for quite some time.
today i'm hoping to get a few more things done,.. only thing is that it is cold by the time i get home from work but lets see. most liekly she'll get a fres fuel filter, possibly an oil change (with new filter) and to rectify the purring kitten with a sore throat issue i'll be taking her to get the silencer patched as i've disovered a hole/crack in a join which makes my car sound horrid!
