today i changed the plug wires to a set of Bosch 7mm wires, changed the rotor arm from a local one to a bosch item.
next on the list is to change to the 34 PICT carb with a AD manifold as the 30 carb i have on there (on the AR manifold) is too small and close to death. i hope i can change the manifold without having to remove all the anciliaries (generator etc). First i need to rebuild the 34 PICT as it's a Used item from the US (wish me luck as i've never done a 34 before and i don't know what to expect in there).
i also noticed that the tranny fluid is thick as hell, most likely it too is going to turn out to be SAE140,... when will people realise that there is a reason that SAE140 is NOT recommended for type 1 transmissions?!?!?!?! i'm currently experiencing EXACTLY the same symptoms as what i did with the 182 a few weeks ago (absolute loss of power) as the thick transmission fluid is sapping power.
i also found that there was a jubilee clip missing from my fuel line and as the line has gone hard it could have been VERY dangerous. luckily i had some spare clips in my dash so i fit one.
as the 1303 had been sitting for so long i think the diaphragm on the current 30 PICT carb is dead/damaged because as soon as you tap the throttle the car dies and then picks up a few seconds later (classic symptom - as told by romano).
hopefully i'll be changing the window channels, vent window seals, uprights etc tomorrow, under Nasirs guidance. and will try to drop my 75 (fuel injected) 1303 tank to khalid to get it ready for carb service (it has a few extra lines to and from it which need to be joined up with a T-joint (or 2).
so much to do!!!
