***Rebuilding my VW 1303 Superbeetle***

i wish that was true, but sadly there are many beetles which are MUCH better than mine.

i did sort out the nasty gear changes though and now she slips into gear with precision and very little effort. all thanks to a new gear lever bush (the one in the tunnel).

now on the prowl for a 34PICT intake manifold so that i can replace the 31 carb on my car with a 34 and bring up the power from 25hp to at least around 40hp (it's an old block otherwise it should be making 50).

You also have added a short shifter aswell right? The 34PICT manifold would be pretty exciting to drive with. Woah, wait a minute you mean that the 25 horses the 1303 was giving you with the 31PICT carburator was able to reach 120Km/h? Imagine what the 34PICT manifold would do!

the short shifter was fit quite a while back (about 2 years ago), it was in my first big shipment of stuff. i was a bit silly to try and fit it without replacing the bush though,.. the bush made all teh difference.

i guestemated the power output but honestly after driving the Thing, the 1303 feels like a truck. the only reason i'm fitting the 34 to the 1303 is that the Thing (with a 1600DP running on a 28) is easily twice as fast as the 1303.

this is why the 1303 has been set aside, the thing is a totally different animal (mainly because it is a good 200kg lighter than the 1303)

P.S: I know a denter here in Karachi who happends to have a LHD 1303S dashboard with him for sale, I didn't see the dash because it was buried in a heap of other parts. But he just pointed to tell me that I have one and I want to sale it. Let me know if you would be interested in it.

why not dual carb the 1303

i want to keep the 1303 as close to the original 1303LS setup as possible. dual carbs would be allot of fun but i think it'll be too much power for a beetle in PK. KP did it to his car (with a 2000cc+ conversion) and his car was insanely fast.

let's see what happens after i fit the 34PICT.

this was build in 1999 by rustem in choor chawk. however you should note that building a driveable VW cabrio is not as easy as just cutting off the roof. This car was almost beyond saving so this was the only option. the roof had rusted to hell and back.

i'm not in favour of cutting up a clean VW body. but if you insist on doing so you will HAVE to strengthen the frame allot. the muppet who last owned it ramoved the rails i'd fit under the car (for strength) and after 24 hours the car snapped into 2!!

car has been scrapped now as far as i know.
