***Rebuilding my VW type 182 Thing***

went this weekend for a quick stop to khalids woirkshop with romano, paid the painter (total payment), paind the denter (total payment), left a small deposit with the electrician and another small deposit with the mechanic (Khalid). the thing needs a FULL rewire and a little TLC mechanically speaking before i can get her home.

anyone have a source for a late (74 onwards) steering column, indicator stalk etc?

Finally all the legal BS is over and i have got the vehicle fully transferred onto my name. has cost almost 35000 rupees till now and with a final payment of 5000 this morning i can now LEGALLY drive the vehicle as my own.

this explains why none of the last 3 owners registered it on their name. officially i'm the 3rd owner of the vehicle,.... LOL!

I wonder how many people with old cars actually transfer their cars to their name and have fully legitimate paperwork???

On serious note, is it because of token tax issue (non payment of token tax for decades?) or had something to do with eng. CC?

the original owner tried to save CVT and registered it as a transport vehicle. then the tokens were WAY overdue so after getting it transfered in my name, clearing the CVT, registering it as a private vehicle and paying all the tokens it has cost me this much.

people here are really "2 number". at least now i can legally drive it and not worry about being stopped etc.

initially i was goin gto hit it with ubran camo but then i decided against any camo due to the infinite amount of moron suicide bombers in PK who might mistake my toy for an army car.

thanks buddy, i've seen that episode before i had my final plans for my thing. sadly we can't get such high end parts here so i decided to theme this vehicle like more of a utility vehicle whereas most of the performance things i have are going into my superbeetle.

that isa lovely machine! the guy really seems to be putting in alot of time and effort into his rebuild. I have a very similar base colour and was also considering camo but i decided against it since in this day and age some moron from the taliban might mistake my custom VW for a pakistani army car and try and blow me up. LOL!

however i'm also interested in the workshop,... that place DAMN clean!

it's the far side wall at khalids workshop, all of those cars on the side are either donor cars or they are projects which are waiting to be started. even my 1303 stood in that row for almost 2 years...
