this car was also spotted on the pir sohawa meet. i saw it going up when we were gathering in the parking at jungle spot. indeed a great looking car. seems to be an early model as i recall it had small tail lights on the rear. but then again even i'm swapping out the large ones for small ones since my car is going to look like a pimped out SS staff car.

BTW this is the same car nightsurfer posted on page 4, but back then it was in KHI

This yellowish paint is very common on Things in Pakistan. I've seen two in KHI of the same color as well. Looks really clean.

well it's been quite som etime since i updated you all so here we go.
floors have been rebuilt, most of the odywork is done and now we are rebuilding the crushed side pods and nose cone. the hardest part so far was repairing the front left fender, the easiest was "downgrading" my car from elepants foot tail lights (mines a 1978) to MUCH earlier VW type2 version.

...am still awaiting a new body to frame seal so that we can reattach the body and get on with the paint.

still no frame seal so i'm having my mechanic make one for the time being so the car can go into paint. will swap it out at a later date with a proper karman ghia seal (which is the same as the thing)

well i finally managed to get a frame seal made (extruded foam rubber) so the "thing" will be going for paint prep very soon.

car is being prepared for the paint process as soon as they repait the stupid holes in the bonnet that some idiot made to fit a pair of 6x9's...

colour has been chosen,......

L272 in a matte finish.

Hi Sameer,
I bought the Thing with those "Stupid" holes and all I could do in record quick time was to seal the holes - so I could take it to the car wash before heading abroad. I have owned the "Thing" for almost 2 years but, hardly had enough of it as it remained parked at my mom's place most of the time.

thanks for the update razak, that means that someone before us had done this horrible thing to the car.... at least they were sealed (Y) hopefully when it is done you can come take a look at her if you are in PK.

BTW i have swapped out the tail lights to early model ones since i'm making the vehicle more utilitarian.
